Oh, bugger! :icon_crap:

I'd sworn off GB's, too, & now you throw my favourite genre at me with inspirational images! :o

I shall have to think about this, as I'm in the middle of a build I don't want to pause, but I have so-o many planned Post Apocalyptic builds planned I'm spoiled for choice! :-\

And in a sign of how harsh the post apocalyptic environment is, I have been knocked off as Group Build Moderator by Brian (aka Buzzbomb) :icon_punal:.  Some will say that it was for mentioning rule 6...

Would WW1 count as an Apocalypse?

Would WW1 count as an Apocalypse?

Sure would be a starting point. Couple of tweaks of the timeline maybe.
Be interested to see anything you come up with

Yup ... first four years in the trenches, then the Spanish Flu epidemic  :o  Sounds pretty Apocalypse-y to me!

WW1 was, pretty much, The Apocalypse for the Romanov's but not so much the rest of the world because, although it caused massive social upheavals, it didn't destroy all/most of civilisation.

However, as BT (buzzbomb) said; a good starting point, though, if you tweak it a bit.

For example: If the Spanish flu epidemic was an outbreak of the Zombie Virus. :o

WW2 is, also, a good starting point.

What if the Manhattan Project had led to the World consuming conflagration that some physicist feared? ???

Some cometary apocalyptic scenarios:
Halley's comet made a relatively close approach in 1910 and the Earth passed through its tail. A slight bump to it's orbit and it would have been very bad news. It came even closer in 837 at 5 million km.  If the core (or even a fragment) had hit the Earth, it would have caused extensive extinctions, year or decade long winters and just a generally not fun time.

Comet Hyakutake in 1996 came within 15 million km. Doesn't seem that close, but it was only discovered 3 months before its closest approach. With a core 4.8km in diameter, it would have been very bad news if it had impacted.

I was going very much for the post apocalyptic angle of the GB theme and doing something post WW1.  It might not be all dark themed either... ;)

Sounds fair enough but the Apocalypse has to have happened before the Post-Apocalypse can start. ;)

And the Apocalypse was WW1 with an estimated 22M dead...and then add the Great Influenza epidemic of 1918-1920, you get up to another 100M dead.

Too true.

Does that make the Roaring 20's the Post Apocalyptic era ? You might think that some of the older Victorian/Edwardian gentry thought exactly that

Is it too early to ask for an extension? ???

The VW of the Zombie Apocalypse is coming along but very slowly, at the moment, with RWS getting in the way. :icon_crap:

Never too early to ask... whether it is agreed, different fish ;)

Currently looking at 12 days to go, it is been a bit slow with submissions so far.
Naval GB is due to kick off in October according to the Calendar, so review in a week, but I don't think a two week extension will be off the books

Also not like I can go anywhere or do anything else I want to do with this current perpetual pestilence.

I'm happy with an extension...more time to scavenge for supplies ...

Thanks for that, I reckon I was going to make the deadline(just) but this will allow me to finish without rushing it.
