First I would like to thank GTX for setting up this forum and greet all old and new friends on this site.

And a fighter from the Grand duchy of Fenwick, since Longbows are the only weapons allowed according to the constitution of Fenwick everything is named Longbow (and if you havent heard about Fenwick I can recommend the movie "The mouse that roared"

HI Arc, nice to see you.
Those are great!

It totally made my day to see a fighter from the Grand Duchy of Fenwick!

-
Very good. Keep it up.

Not having done any profiles in a while I now offer this.
Seeing the success of the Indian "Sabre slayers" VTI launched a crash project for a Yugoslav light fighter and in typical Yugoslav flair named it Novi Mlazni Avijon (New Jet Aircraft)

Wow!!!!
I like...I like a lot!!! Any chance of a top view?
Regards,
Greg
-
Glad you like, as for a top view... I have never done one... But here is how I got the result: 1) Take a de Havilland Venom rip off its wings but save the booms. 2) Add Hawker Hunter wings a air intake attach booms (needs to be somewhat strengthened. 3) Chop off the Venom nose and replace with suitable pointy nose in this case a Su-15 nose but a F-104 or F-106 should do just fine. 4) Find a suitable tail either for example a Sea Vixen or a homemade as in this case.

Works for me. You could also do a red variation of the Eureka Stockade flag:

The problem with the Eureka flag is that it has a cross (opium for the masses and all that)

We all remember the brilliant Soviet disinformation campaign towards the end of the cold war featuring the MiG-29 "Flanker", and even if it was a "sexy" design prominently used in many World War III games popular at the time we will here take a look at the aircraft that campaign was meant to protect. Although far plainer than the "Flanker" the Yak-45 Ferret is a very capable aircraft that has given sterling service both to the USSR and todays Russia and have after the cold war been exported in respectable numbers.

I thought since China used a lot of Hawks the could do a domestic fighter inspired by the different mission that trained the Air Force. Here we got a Bristol Engine, Hawk undercarrige, Reggiane wings and Fw-159 tail.

Northrop offered the F-5E in the early 70īs as replacement for the F-84/86 aircraft (OTL) and after lengthy negotiations the JRV accepted awarding the licence production to UTVA. The F-5E popularly known as Osa (Wasp) would remain in service until the end of the SFRY and came to soldier on in several successor states. The F-5E also became the starting point for a number of light fighter projects in Yugoslavia.

I love the simplicity of this one!

Yeah I goofed up on the main gun. I was thinking of turret from Type 2 gun tank, which is armed with a 75mm mountain gun, but I mis-memorized that bit of fact. ;D

Cheers,

-
Agreed! Maybe even a M113 or even pbv 302
-
Actually, rather than an M113, I bet putting it on an M114 would be pretty snazzy. M24 Chaffee, maybe? Hey, what about a modernized, Westernized T-34/85 lower profile upgrade? Hmm...
Cheers,
Logan

Would the M26/M46 hull be able to take the Ikv-91 turret refitted with 105mm gun?
====================================================================
Actually your previous tank profiles make me think......
Say, we've got a whole inventory of Interwar-era and early-WWII tanks that we need to press into service in support of an insufficient number of modern tanks (as in Sherman, T-34-85, or Panzer IV). What would be your choice of armament for those upgrade older tanks?
I'm under the influence of my recent "Tank Hunter" WoT inventory theme to think of smaller-calibre, high-velocity guns. ZiS-4 used by T-34-57 seems to be the best performer, but would there be other guns that have a better balance between, size, adequate anti-armour capability, and handling (as many of those old tanks feature two-man or even one-man turrets)?
-
I think the the High velocity guns sounds good but do you really want to use old tanks as tank hunters? If you do how about squeeze bore or high-low pressure guns? Ammunition is another way to go, liberal distrubition of HEAT, HESH (HEP) and sub-caliber rounds is a cheap way to increase performance
-

To give them at least a fighting chance against the likes of T-34......
Ammunition is another way to go, liberal distrubition of HEAT, HESH (HEP) and sub-caliber rounds is a cheap way to increase performance
HEAT rounds in WWII have left some sort of a question mark in my head- On Wiki, Italian 47mm guns are said to have remained successful in anti-tank role when using HEAT rounds, yet HEAT round used by the supposedly-heavier howitzer of the BT-42 conversion is said to be useless against T-34...... does that have something to do with some people making better HEAT rounds than others?
-
The explanation given on wiki why the round of thr BT-42 didnt work makes no sense, could it have been that the Finns werent able to control the spin of the round/jet?
-
The explanation given on wiki why the round of thr BT-42 didnt work makes no sense, could it have been that the Finns werent able to control the spin of the round/jet?
Are there specific factors to be taken into account when designing HEAT rounds for a specific calibre, or could a design be scaled-up or -down at will? (Since Wiki claims that the Finns copied a German design for use with their 114mm howitzer, I'm making an uneducated guess here......)
In addition...... I am still wondering if some measure of gun commonality would be good.
-
A common gun or at leat ammo is probably desirable, how about the Kwk 39 (or go nuts and put in the BK 5)?

This interests me ...any more details?
The Republic of Rio Grande (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_the_Rio_Grande (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_the_Rio_Grande)) established in 1840 retaken by Mexican forces in 1844 after four years of fighting with both RoRG and its close ally the Republic of Texas. Rebelled again during the Mexican-American war that led to its recognition in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Rio Grande has had rocky relationship to its neighbours during the 20th century which has led to it having a small but well trained Army. Rio grande is closely allied to the Republic of Yucatan.
The depicted tank is named for the first Commander in Chief and later President Antonio Canales Rosillo.

Canales light tank, Republic of Rio Grande c.1953
If we use the 8cm PAW-600 as a template...... the potential of being able to borrow manufacturing tooling related to mortars (basis for projectiles; the barrel is smoothbore, too) sounds pretty attractive as well.
What's the typical combat range of late-war standard tank gun (as in KwK-40, M1A1, or ZiS-S-53) in anti-tank role?
I heard that there was a plan to fit a modified Pz.IV turret armed with the PAW-600 onto the Pz.38(t), which is just like if not along the same line as your Canales light tank...... I wonder if the gun can be fitted into smaller turrets...... like that of the Pz.III......
A common gun or at leat ammo is probably desirable, how about the Kwk 39 (or go nuts and put in the BK 5)?
I am inclined to stick with the KwK-39 for smaller tanks ;D
-
A quick search ariund the internet seem to indicate 500-1000 yards (450-900 m) as the usual combat ranges, which I find a bit long considering how much of Europe looks like.

The SYS-2000 makes me wonder how big the turret ring of the Ikv-91 is compared to those of the KV-2 or KV-85 (hint hint)......

Cheers,

Japan uses "Deutsche" for reference although I suspect that they have a code word for that in military applications (for example, IJN designated submarines of German origin in their fleet using the code word "Ro", IIRC.)
That 50mm(?) gun sure beats everything Japan could have come up with in a short notice. At the very least until Chi-Nu- assuming Allied armours remained overwhelmingly Sherman with short 75mm- rolled along......

Nice! I love that 'brush work' camouflage pattern :)

One of the many unique AFVīs participating in the 1947-49 Israeli independence war often cobbled together by parts from scrapyards and surplus sales around the world with surprisingly many parts brought by Jews fleeing the Chinese civil war.

That's a shame although the BT-42 itself has other troubles.

Okay, I don't think that belt-fed mechanism for their own high-velocity 75mm gun is gonna work out, either. But did you use Pz.III or Pz.IV turret on your Type 1 Kai? The reason why I first assumed the main gun to be 50mm is that I thought the Pz.III turret is probably more workable.
-
I used a VK3001(H) turret (not to scale) so a 50 is fine with me
I havent seen that thanks, the only tank I heard of being planned with an auto loader was the Skoda T-25
Type97/1 mated to a not to scale T-50 turret and VK3002(DB) mantlet

I like the tank, the concept, and the camo! I think that's a pretty big tank for an independent nation of Hawaii, though! An independent Hawaiian armed forces would be an awesome concept to profile, though.
Cheers,

Any chance we will see some Hawaiian profiles from you?
-
Maybe, but not soon. I try to stay to more subtle whiffery by and large. I also focus on more of the equipment whifs and stay out of the political realm. I did do that Faroe Islands Gripen, though, so you never know...
Right now I'm trying to drive myself crazy one rivet at a time with this P-61. Just the aft portion of the boom and the vertical tail to go!

Thanks gents, as for the Skyhawk I need to make a clean blank but I have found an interesting Maori pattern

I couldn't help to feel that the tank seems super-heavy. Is it Hawaiian, too?
Might want to at least lower the hull for a bit. Rear-mounted sprockets would help, IIRC.

Its supposed to be the Löwe III of a SA-Division in an alternate timeline

Yep, was it the marking that gave it away?
If you mean the way it is designated, yes. I see the SPRM being either a Soviet client state or a Non-Aligned Movement member, and of those in real-life Non-Aligned Movement I remember only one country designating their vehicles this way.

I wish I was a good writer because I cant let go of the Three Chinaīs concept (Communist, Nationalist and Manchuria)
One way to start is to just put the key points of you idea/story in bullet point format or in the form of key events.
-
Wasn't Manchuria the heart of the communist Chinese territory while the Nationalists controlled the south? I read something a few years back that suggested that the Nationalists would have been better off leaving the Communists in Manchuria rather than trying to take it back.
-

The Nationalists made quite a number of idiotic moves in Manchuria, too, such as screwing their own elite 1st New Army and disbanding ex-Manchukuo army units. On the battlefield the Nationalists actually did as well or even better than the Communists, but Communist losses were quickly replenished by disenfranchised ex-NRA soldiers and officiers while the NRA itself suffered even between battles.
-

My idea is basicly this since the USSR recognized Manchuria in 1941 (OTL) and having serious concerns about the CCP ability to win a war against the KMT(OTL) they decide to install a new government in Manchuria to create a buffer state (which du to its industrialization is better suited to create a socialist society according to communist ideology). Paying lip service to the international revolution they supply a limited amout of arms to the CCP and points out what a suitable guerilla base Xinjiang is (much too the chagrin of the CCP that now have lost a valuable supply source and been instructed to regroup on the fringes of China). The KMT ofcourse arenīt to happy about losing Manchuria but confronting the Soviets at this stage would be suiciadal at the moment (but the aspiration to retake it doesnīt go away).
So what do you all think?
-
sounds great, that would work, USSR satellite, vs, CCP, vs Nationalist

well that would be the E-series ... unless you're talking about 1936-1942 time-frame ?

Not really any timeframe in particular, but I am wondering if there is an advantage in being able to accept different suspension designs from different countries.

The tank is a modified Skoda T-15 and I was thinking a 50mm perhaps the autoloaded Skoda AT gun adapted for tank use.
There is always a possibility for a TD
