So, after I joined this site I went into my attic storage and dug this one out. Remarkably, it was still in good shape suffering only from dust and a busted left main landing gear (both easily rectified). I built this at least 25 years ago, using (I believe; my memory is hazy) a Lindberg 1/72 Do-335 two-seater night fighter and an intake from a Matchbox Typhoon. It was also my first foray into epoxy putty, to fair them together, and strip styrene for the fin extension. I used a pair of Spitfire contra-rotating props and exhaust stubs in white metal from Aeroclub, and back in those days it took ages to get them from Hannant's in London...remember International Reply Coupons and money orders for stuff like this? Anyway, the inspiration was any and all warbirds ever used or modified for unlimited air racing. I used a Microscale letters & numbers sheet and some leftover Blue Angels decals. Why I selected Husky colors I can't recall, as I'm a Beaver grad, but it must have been simply to make the thing look more crazy.
