Oh! That is seriously cool! As if, in 1945, l'ingegnere Stefanutti was sitting around the design office at SAI Ambrosini wondering what to do with himself. A folder of aviation magazine cuttings spills open on the desk and Sergio's eyes alit upon the juxtaposed images of a DH.88 and Me 262 ...  ;D

And good eye Apophenia, it was indeed based directly on the De Havilland DH.88 as opposed to the Me-262. :smiley:

The Rockwell XFV-12 was a big inspiration, particularly a version proposed which was a two-seater conventional fighter version without VTOL capabilities. There's definitely some HiMAT in there as well.
