Last model of 2012 (Corsair)

What a great little kit the 1:72 Hawk Corsair is.  Simple yet parts fit so well that glue was optional in some cases.  Was surprised for a kit from 1953 which has NO cockpit (just a pilot bust) yet has crisply engraved panel lines for the most part (some are raised as well).  First kit I've built in over 8 months and the last for 2012.

Once again, I wanted to see if I could simply hand-paint the markings, including the letters and the fictional insignia for The Royal Caliphate Air Force.  Not as easy at 1:72 scale, that's for sure!  The radiator/oil cooler intakes are not even there (solid/blank) so I faked it by painting them in with a hint of inner detail that isn't really there).

All primed up and ready for paint:

I clipped the prop down to the spinner (more believable when I fly it around the house and strafe Ms. Hitler).

And the underside:

Absolutely masterful, Mr Howling Mouse! The paint scheme, the weathering and those wonderfully unique markings...a real tour d'force!!!

Some of those older kits are real gems waiting to be revealed and it looks like you have managed to do that with the old Hawk kit.
