F-15STVOL
« on: November 13, 2012, 04:56:10 PM »
Hi.  I'm new to the site.  I'd thought I'd try to post some of my What If projects but I'm not sure if I can link it with my Photobucket account.

Attached is my F-15 What If project.  It's based on the experimental F-15 STVOL project from the 1980s-90s.  McDonnell Douglas actually built one or two prototypes/experimental F-15E's with vector thrust engines.  It didn't get approved by the Air Force.

I used Hasegawa's old F-15E 1/72 kit, scratch built some vector thrust nozzles from photos of the prototype and used Hasegawa's weapon sets.

Thanks for looking.

Welcome!  That looks great.  I've always loved any growth variants of the Eagle.  Well done; I look forward to seeing your other builds!

Cheers,

Your solution to the vectored thrust exhaust looks almost exactly as I would have imagined the F-15 to look like with these features.  Excellent work.

Beautiful work and an inspired adaptation of the F-15SMTD design to a combat-ready bird.

Welcome to BTS.  In 1980s-90s there were either drawings or pictures of that I recall seeing.
I do turn a shade of green when looking at finish and detail of F-15.
Post more......
