Title: Spitfire TR9
Post by: Robomog on February 05, 2024, 06:00:11 AM
Hi all.

Not getting much bench time due to illness in the family, but I am finding it helps with the worries to do some kit building and forget about the world for a couple of hours.  I'm not starting anything new  just clearing the current backlog (five in total plus a stalled diorama).

So here is the first.

This is an AZmodels  Spitfire TR9 model kit built straight out of the box plus an upgrade Kit For the guns and exhaust stacks.

It is finished in the colours of an aircraft I flew in at Duxford as a retirement present.

There is a glaring error, the real aircraft has a low rise rear canopy. The kit has the higher one.  I didn't realise this until late into the build so I used the kit one. Victim of my own half arsed research ?

And the traditional scale shot

It is spray finished using Hataka paints and AML paint masks. I'm getting better at this new fangled airbrushing thingy

All comments and criticisms gratefully accepted, as always.

So, it's a mild whif, ain't nothing wrong with that!

Your airbrush work looks very good, nothing to worry about there.

And the build is, also, very good!

Hmmmm...one could do one of these as a "take your child to work day" style humorous build.

So jealous.. I stood on the fence at Duxford watching one of those flights during the pre-flight and take off phases and whistfully wondered... if only

Nice work all around really

Thanks guys

Buzz - the only reason I had the flight was because  my private pensions paid out and Mrs Lady Mog insisted I take it ( she is a very powerful insistor  ;)).

If you ever get the chance, take it. It's expensive, but an  absolutely awesome experience.
