John "Jack" McVicar Malloch ICD, was a South African-born Rhodesian bush pilot, gun-runner and sanctions-buster who flew in World War II, and in various legal and illegal roles around Africa and the Middle East until the early 1980s. It was he who rescued PK350 (aka SR64) from a pylon.
A short history of Spitfire PK350
Produced by Supermarine in 1945, first flight March 8th.
Stored until sold to Rhodesia on March 25th, 1951, re-numbered SR64. in
Struck off charge around 1956, and mounted on a pole at New Sarum AFB outside Salisbury (now Harare)
Rescued by Jack Mallock, and restored to flight on March 29th,1980 as PK350
Lost March 26th, 1982, on the last day of video filming when flown into a thunderstorm.

Model based on the 1/48 Airfix Spitfire mk.22, with a new canopy, and minor corrections. Finish is Alclad High Speed Silver.

Beautiful model! I have the Eduard boxing of the 1/48 Airfix kit waiting final details and decals as "warbird" PK350.
