Anachronistic GB Rules

(1/5) > >>

Brian da Basher:
1. The Anachronistic GB runs from August 1st, 00:00 through Sember 30th, 23:59 of 2018. Extensions will in all probability be considered when we get nearer to the finish date.

2. The purpose of this GB is to relate any real world conflict of the past, near or far, with weapons of another previous or later time frame; distant at least 50 years of the aforementioned conflict.

2a. In order to be related to a conflict of another timeframe, 3D and 2D entries must show some sign or indicative generally admitted. For example, a red cross (not like ambulances) for the Templars, a black cross for the Teutonic order (the black crosses of german aviation and tanks, at all times, are all Teutonic symbols). When this is not completely clear (AFAIK no one knows what the flag of Carthage was like), it can be invented but it will have to be minimally justified.

2b. Acceptable examples:

Mirage of the Napoleonic Imperial Guard

Carthaginian Elephant tank, crossing the Alps

   Roman Thunderbolt

   Tsarist MiG-21

   Confederate Sherman

   Saracen Spitfire

   Templar Typhoon

   Fw-190 of the Teutonic Order

   etc ...

2c. Non acceptable examples:

   WWI with WWII weapons

Falklands War with Vietnam War weapons

2d. Subject can be almost anything: aircraft, afv, car, ship, rocket, figure, any weapon, ...

3. Entries will be accepted in two categories: 3D physical models and 2D artwork/profiles/illustrated stories. Winners will be chosen by vote of the forum members. Entries must be posted to the Completed Entries thread by the deadline to be included in the voting.

4. Anachronistic projects finished before this GB can be posted in the Display Only section. Show your stuff and inspire others at the same time!

5. Half-starts and refurbs/rebuilds are allowed if they're part done within the GB timeframe and require major work to be completed by GB starting date. I will tend to be generous in this point. Final general paint shop is a major work to me.

6. You know ...

7. Decisions of the GB moderator are final. If you're not sure your entry is eligible, please ask before posting it.

8. Have fun!

Warning:
Rule 2 amended 100 years ------> 50 years

Acree:
Not to nitpick, but several of your acceptable examples break rule #2 by being less than 100 years separated (e.g., Confederate Sherman, Tsarist MiG-21).  Perhaps 100 years is a bit too much?

Ok, you are right.
Let's try with 50 years.

In fact when I said Tsarist I was thinking on napoleonic period. :-[

Didn't think of that!  I thought of 1917!  Either way, I wasn't trying to be pedantic.  It's actually a little surprising to think the US Civil War and World War II were only separated by 80 years!

Thanks for the quick revision.  Now to think of a project!

elmayerle:
But would the Confederacy call it a "Sherman"?  I'd think they'd name it for one of their generals. perhaps a "Ross" after Lawrence Sullivan Ross who had a notable martial record even before the Confederacy existed.
