Mike is having a 30% off sale. From an email he sent.

Snip:

30 years/30% off sale

I know I should not do this but, I want to,  to say thank you for the many years of your support. Please understand these sales swamp my ability to ship kits fast. I try to make a two week turnaround but  it becomes almost impossible especially with orders containing lots of sets.

Pay Pal accepted Please use LSMODELS@PDQ.NET for the Payee.
Sale is good till April 5th 2014

Labor  Day Sale

Starting today  Sept.4th.through Sunday Sept.6th. Midnight CST.

All kits etc. on my site are 30% off with exception of the Red Gecko decals which are on close out sale at 50% off. Please be patient on delivery. When I have a sale I do receive a lot of orders and some quite large ones so casting and filling all can get bogged down. Also some molds wear out and I have to spend time remaking them to fill an order.
Feel free to spread the word!

It will have the cockpit and boarding ladder molded into the fuselage The camera nose will remain as it was before. When released it will be available as part of my old kit set and as a separate item for those wishing to use it with the new Hobby Boss P-61C kit.  The paddle blade props and spinners will also be available separately. Some have indicated they think the Hobby Boss props are too narrow and  the spinner too small. These items will be available when I reopen.

Now Available!

Lone Star Models News
April 2016

Spring is finally here and in Texas this means time for model contests to begin. Our first one most every year is the Model Fiesta held in San Antonio. I was unable to attend again this year. The next event will be here in Houston at the Stafford Center on April 23.
If you are in the area you should make a point to attend. It is a great venue and the local club has some great raffle prizes. There are a large number of great model entries to see too.

I know it is getting old hearing about the Felixstowe and NC-4 but when you are using outside suppliers too you have to wait on their schedules too. But that said the continued delays have not all been someone else's fault.

I have received the final art work for the O-47 decals but due to a 6 week tie up at Micro Scale I am not going to attempt to release the O-47 in July as planned. But it will be in 2016!

The Colditz and LNS-1 gliders are delayed due to  decals at Microscale but I should have them in late May, early June .

I am progressing along with the Cletrac but have decided to forgo decals so as not to have it waiting as well.

The 1/72 Basler BT-67 is now available and listed on my web site. I started this set when the only kits were by Italeri/Testors, Airfix? MPC , and ERTL. The parts should fit the new generation kits too. Decals are included for 3 aircraft. Basler corp. aircraft, US Forest Service and Bolivian Police.

Due to requests I have cancelled plans to no longer offer the full 1/48 F-15 Reporter kit with the new resin fuselage for the older Monogram/Revell kits. Both are listed now on my web site but updated photos are still to come.

Planned  for 2016 release:
1/48 Felixstowe  This one has been eating my lunch! late
1/72 Curtiss NC-4  late

Latest Update from Mike. August 2016.

I know it is getting old hearing about the Felixstowe and NC-4 but when you are using outside suppliers  you have to wait on their schedules too. But that said the continued delays have not all been someone else's fault.

I received word from Microscale on the O-47 decal sheet. I should have them by the end of August. So I still plan to get this out around the end of the year. We will see how that goes.

The Colditz glider and the Martin MS-1 were debuted at the convention and well received. I sold all of the gliders I had with me. I also had a early test shot build up of the LNS-1 glider but minus the canopy or cockpit interior. It will be released soon this will be announced  here, on my site and on Facebook.

I am progressing along with the Cletrac but have decided to forgo decals so as not to have it waiting as well.

The 1/72 Basler BT-67 is now available and listed on my web site. I started this set when the only kits were by Italeri/Testors, Airfix? MPC , and ERTL. New 1/32 P-51D wing tip  ram jets

As I have mentioned before I do sometimes play requests. This project came in as a request for patterns to be made for hire. Most people that ask me to make something don't want to pay even minimum wage rates for my time. So I asked him to send me what he had and let me take a look. There is not a whole lot on this aircraft as far as photos. Late one evening I spent 3 or 4 hours carving the master pattern for this.

These will be available later next week I am working on the molds now. So watch the 1/32 page on my web site for release and price info.
He wanted it to fit the new Tamiya kit so it is fit to that kits wing tip. I am pretty sure it will fit any of the others on the market now. a little tweeking may be required though.

1/48 Curtiss P-1 conversion
Originally I had said this could be used on the old Lindberg F-11 C kit and their newer P-6E kit. It can but the F-11 C top wing ailerons are incorrect and must be corrected. Those on the P-6E kit are correct. This conversion will include a new resin fuselage with interior, landing gear and a decal sheet. You will be able to build a P-1 C or D or a Navy F6CThis set should be available later in January. The metal parts are being molded soon.

Curtiss P1D

Curtiss F6C

1/48 Gotha G-1

I pulled the Gotha patterns from the shelf of doom this week. It is looking good for a February release. Resin with metal parts, decals and etched gun jackets.

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

The Gotha G-1 is an interesting one - might look at it.  Am tempted to do one as a Gotha UWD thus going back closer to Oskar Ursinus's original idea:

Received this today via email.

Lone Star Models has purchased Cobra Company

There has been a lot of talk on the web since Chris Miller of Cobra Company announced that he was  closing.

I wish to announce that  I have secured the purchase  of Cobra Company. The complete product line will be folded into that of Lone Star Models . There are approximately 150 different Cobra Company products and much like those from Lone Star Models there are some that just never sell well.  I plan to assess  the viability of each and bring the most popular  sets back first. From the ongoing discussions and e-mails I have been receiving one of these will definitely be the 1/72 Privateer detail set for the Matchbox/Revell Germany kits.

There will be a special page on my web site at WWW.LONESTARMODELS.COM for these sets. The kit numbers from Cobra will remain but now have an LSM prefix. Example LSMCC 48001.  It will take me a while to go through each set and get them back into production.

1/48 ME-264 kit. This big bruiser weighs in at 3 pounds of resin. I had put it back in the catalog but seems little interest. I have enough metal parts and decals for maybe 10 more. If you want one better let me know. It is one of the pattern sets I am selling so no plans for making a new set of molds here at LSM. You will need to drop me an e-mail and go through normal Pay Pal procedures for purchase. Kit price is $200.00. I am not going to eat the shipping on this one so I will need to know an address too if you want one.

Mike at LSMODELS@PDQ.NET PLEASE!!!

Coming soon.

Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

From Mike's February newsletter.

A firebomber tanker conversion for the old Revell 1/72 Tarhe CH-54 kit. It contains decals for 5 aircraft including one used in South Korea. You get the tank with both snorkels, alternate duel main gear for an S-64, stripped down replacement tail and main gear fairings, computer generated/printed turbines, new interior, alternate cab extension and bubbled door glass. This set is maybe a month away from release however, The decals are drawn but must be finalized for fit and then printed at Micro Scale.

Also coming is a conversion to the Vietnam era CH-54 bomber. You get the Daisy Cutter and field made sway braces plus a small decal sheet for this particular aircraft. For those that may have an older kit, the 7th Cav. badge is part of the decal sheet.

Updates for those heretics not building in the one true scale.

I am closing in on finally completing three new 1/48 Race Planes. One is Pre-war and the other two are  post-war  The Modified P-51 Miss Foxy Lady is one of them. You will be able to build a model in any of the schemes she flew in . Overall black or white with both style pin ups.

1/48 XF-4U Corsair prototype number 2. This is as modified after the crash and  more closely resembles a production model. You will need a Tamiya dash one kit for this.

1/48 OS2U  Kingfisher conversion for the Monogram kit. You will need the Monogram kit for wing tip floats, decals , beaching gear ,and canopy.

1/48 PB4Y-2 full kit is progressing along. I hope to be ready in time for the IPMS USA Nationals. Decals are here, 3D generated and printed tire patterns are in and molded. There are three tread patterns and these will be available separately. Parts are being molded, Gang molds are being made too and parts cast and stocked.

The re-release of the 1/48 B-10 is coming along. Parts are being molded . Casting and stock piling parts will begin soon.

In 1/32 scale, I have the F2G patterns in the On Deck stack of projects to be finished. It too will be remade, this time I am going back with a full fuselage. The surgery required to create one as before was too much for most. The full fuselage should solve that problem but it also drives up production costs and retail price.

The Revell 1/32 scale OH-6 Loach was never addressed by Cobra Co.So I am working on a new cockpit for this old kit too.
