I have some Sintra board and that video is accurate. It's great stuff! Tamiya extra thin (or equivalent styrene glues) will melt it slightly, although the bond won't be quite as strong as styrene to styrene.

Pshaw, I've been using it since the early '90s. Y'all need to catch up. ;D

This base is made from Sintra - I thought it was polystyrene but it's not:

Sintra is one brand name for closed-cell "foam" PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride).
It glues easily with PVC "pipe cement" for heavy applications - you can thin
the plumbing cement with MEK for easier application. Hot glue sticks to it
very well, ditto epoxy.

Sintra is one of the trade names for PVC. foamboard, it is also known as Foamex, Forex, Foamalite or Palite, but looking for 'PVC. foam board' will generally lead you to the right stuff :)
You can usually find scrap/offcuts at local signmakers as its widely used in the print industry
