Hi all,
I'm starting to assemble this old 1:72 Academy kit to make this Fieseler Fi-156 "Storch":

What, if anything, were those little lumps across the front of the wings supposed to be? ???

I imagine they are supposed to represent support struts for the fixed leading edge slats. They do look a bit lumpy and stumpy (the originals are more rectangular). But I guess, in 1/72nd, those supports will be almost entirely hidden by the slats themselves  :smiley:

Replaced original Small barrel shaped Oil Radiator with the lamellar type and added exhausts

Nice! I note that I-ULIA was delivered with the usual barrel-shaped oil cooler which was then changed for the lamellar-type. Was this a strictly Italian modification or did some Luftwaffe Storch also have the lamellae fitted?

Back on the slat supports, have you seen http://www.ratomodeling.com.br/finished/storch/ ?

If you scroll down to section 'C)', there are a series of drawings of how the modeller created his own slat supports. Rato Marczak calls these supports "actuating arms" but I thought his techniques were interesting.
