Resistance X-wing...yeah...Revell one...
« on: January 04, 2020, 10:37:39 PM »
I love new design of X-wing, I really do...so I bought new X-wing...Bandai is too small so I got Revell one.
Mistake? Yeah , big mistake.
I don't know how it is possible that all of Revell factories are still standing and no one is burned?
This toy is...I have now words. Revell, I hope force will not be with you anymore...

Okay, I'm done :D Let's go to model. What's the plan? Slight correction of details, removing factory paint (I don't know , it's made from adamantium or vibranium? It's nearly unremovable) and new, classic paintjob.

First thinggs first...Cockpit. OOB it was black.

I tried to basic paint it grey. See what I saw after this:

I was surprised , really :)

What to do? Put this sh**t into Gunze Thinner to remove all of this armored paint. After long session with thinner I see very disgusted Darth Vader over my bench but paint was removed :D

@Artoor_K - was the paint the cause of the problem or was the seat moulding like that before the paint was applied?

I thought that plastic was melted or sth like that. After few minutes in gunze thinner it was clear that it was only accumulation of strange applied black paint.

@Artoor_K - Well that is good news but that also indicates that the person(s) responsible for pre-painting the model at the factory are not doing their tasks very well.  :)

Time to have these so called "painters" provide a new source of protein to their local Sarlacc.

Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Person? Maybe but more possible is robot or other machine...I'm happy that it was only paint. I'm curious what next surprise will be?

I've made seat cover with Surfacer 500 and some detailing: targeting device and control stick. Also some minor updates on instrument panel based on photos.

I hoped that seat surprise and "quality" paintjob were last unwelcomed guests on "Revell X-wing" party but I underestimated ingenuity of guys at Revell company. Well, just look at that awesome "wing" panels! Doesn't they fit like a glove? :D:D:D:D

Seriously, I have to make a special offering for the ghosts of Jedi for giving me idea of buying Proxxon oscillatory grinder. I can't imagine sanding these panels without it:

I've made little stand from spare parts. Also , X-wing is primered. I've used tew different colors. Red and blue to imitate heated surfaces , silver to make abase for chipping and dark gray to make shadows. Next stop: base colors.

Ooohhhh very colorful!

I like it and at this point the only thing that could improve it is adding spats.

Ahem. Apologies, my vitamin spats deficiency is acting up again...

That's one mighty fine X-wing and you're taking it to a whole 'nuther level!

P.S. If we end up having a Sci-Fi GB, I'm claiming Spat Wars now.  ;D ;D ;D

Thank you :) I'm voting three times "YES" for SF GB but I can't imagine X-wing with spats...sorry :D

Some paint :) Preshading disapeared on photo. I'll try to make a better one after painting frames of canopy :)
