The supposedly "new tool" 20.0' cargo container may actually be the old ESCI 20.0' cargo container kit

I wonder? Its labelled new tool in the catalog, so I hope that would be true. Then again, some of italeri's new stuff is weaker than esci's old stuff!

I am loving the gun trucks. Real world and whif possibilities.
Every time you eat celery,an angel vomits in a gas station bathroom. Tanks rule. I know the load is late, but the voices tell me to pull over and clean the guns.

There is definitely nothing wrong with the ESCI 20.0' Cargo Container other than the fact that it is a snap-together kit.  Had the chance to pick up six of the things back when there was a Squadron Model Shop Franchise in the Washinton, D.C. Beltway area many moons ago.  Molded in red plastic and the trailer was molded in black plastic.

Yeah, if that big Starfighter can be built as a Canadian then I plan to get one. It'll probably be the only *big* kit I'll ever build, but the NMF CF-104 with white wings is very special to me: first fighter I recall going 'ooooohhhh' over, first I knew the name of, and so one of the things that triggered my love of airplanes. :)

The F-35 is also something I'll be picking up...

Supposedly will have Canadian markings in the box:

Been looking forward to this one since they first announced it. However afik it's the old Supermodel kit cleaned up and refined a bit. Not a problem as that was a nice kit back in the day but I still have one of them in the stash

My dad had an old 1/50 scale kit of one of those.  I think it was an old Czech kit, but I'm not sure.  Good looking little model, though.  I love the engine.  So much personality.

Thanks,

Logan

That would most likely be the old 1/50th Merit/Artiplast kit that was sold by Smer for years.

I have seen images of the kit contents on Track-Link in Martyn Smith's review of this kit at this link: Italeri 1:35th scale 20.0’ Cargo Container (kit number 6516) - quick look

It appears to be new tool from what I can tell.  What really puts a burr under my blanket is the MSRP on this kit at the local McHobby Shop: $29.00 before adding on the sales tax.  WTF!?  This kit has all of what, fifteen parts and a decal sheet that gives you options for U.S. Army, U.S.M.C., and Italian Air Force.  The kit box is not much different in size to some of the Tamiya model accessory kits such as the GMC CCKW accessory kit or the Wehrmacht 2.0cm FlakVierlieng kit and neither of those items is anywhere near $29.00 in price.  While I can understand the need to make a profit this is outright piracy and not all of it can be put on the importer since the EU price is very close to the U.S. price at €17.50.  The only way I will even consider purchase of this kit is when the price drops to a fraction of the current MSRP.

I've got a real one in my yard, I wonder if I could do a vacuform of it in the various scales, as you say Jeff, there's not a lot to them
