Nice model of the Chaffee and it appears to have a workable torsion bar suspension.

Over on the Modeling Madness page, Scott Van Aken has shared a couple of images and a description of the Bronco Models 1/35th scale M114A1 155mm Howitzer for your enlightenment.

(Image source: Modeling Madness/Scott Van Aken)

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Prior to Bronco offering this model, the only other model of this artillery piece available in a large scale was from Testor's/Italeri.  That model originated with a company called Peerless many years ago.  The Peerless model of the 155mm Howitzer has been the subject of much discussion on a number of forums as to what the exact scale is since it is not quite 1/35th scale.  I have also read in various discussions that the original Peerless kit had motorization features included which may explain some of the toy-like qualities of this model.  Now that Bronco has come up with a new model of the 155mm howitzer known by several designations and more recently as the 155mm Howtizer, Towed, M114 and M114A1 there should be many happy artillery modelers in this hobby.

AND.... Yet another KV-85! LINK -taken from PMMS.

While I'm not totally surprised, since they also have an SU-152 on the way, I have to wonder why another kit of this somewhat obscure Soviet heavy tank. The old Eastern Express kit recently reappeared under the Ark label and Trumpeter has a KV-85 slated for release in October. Oh well, I guess this is the year for KV-series fans! ;D

EDIT- D'Oh! Thanks for catching that, Greg! I fixed the link to direct to the Bronco preview page at PMMS.

Bronco Models 1:350thh scale U.S. Navy LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) kit number NB5029

Click on thumbnail or html above to view.

The title describes this as a USMC craft which is  incorrect.  I thought it might be that Bronco is using theTrumpeter/Gallery Models mold for this model but that is not the case.  This model is very different from the Trumpeter/Gallery Models sprues and how it is put together.  There is also the additional bonus of several ground vehicles and a phote-etch metal fret containing several railing sections for the LCAC.

The M114A1 is added to my "wants" list.  I need that 155 to go with my M198 155mm and the M2A1 105mm in USMC service.

Thomas Hofmann has uploaded several in-box reviews to Modellversium.de. for the following 1:350th scale aircraft subjects:

Bronco models 1:350th scale SH-60B /SH-60J Sea Hawk Anti-Submarine Helicopter (kit number NB5003)

Bronco Models 1:350th scale USMC AV8B "Harrier II" (kit number NB5030)

Bronco models 1:350th scale USMC CH-46E "Sea Knight" (kit number NB5031)

You should know the routine by now.  Click on the html or the image to view. :)

These kits are tiny but still have many features that some 1:144th scale aircraft would be hard pressed to provide.  For anyone wanting to take what if to a smaller format this may be your ticket to get there.  Along with the other 1:350th scale models that Bronco is making available this is certainly a different approach for offering nice details in such a small scale model.  All it would take is five or six of these tiny kits and you would have yourself an entire squadron of line birds plus a couple of maintenance spares :)

Another installment from Thomas Hofmann that was uploaded to Modellversium.de today.

Bronco Models 1:350th scale USMC MV-22B "Osprey" (kit number NB5032)

Click on thumbnail or html to view.

Unfortunately only two per kit box in this offering but nonetheless quite nice looking and a great way to explore what if ideas without spending a ton of money on a larger and much more expensive kit.

Thomas Hofmann must be on a roll with all of these nice little reviews he is uploading to Modellversium.de.

Today he has shared some images of the Bronco Models 1:350th scale MH53E "Sea Dragon" (kit number NB5033)

Click on thumbnail or html to view.

Apparently the folks at Bronco are not aware of the differences between the Sikorsky CH-53E and the MH-53E helicopters.  The CH-53E Sea Stallion is a U.S. Marine Corps asset while the MH-53E Sea Dragon is a U.S. Navy asset.  The differences are mainly in the wheel sponsons which are significatnly larger on the MH-53E Sea Dragon.  The image on the box for this model kit is an MH-53E Sea Dragon belonging to the U.S. Navy Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron HM-14 "Vanguards" which is not a part of the U.S. Marine Corps.  A minor detail I know but Bronco has gone to so much trouble to provide us with a very nice little model of the MH-53E Sea Dragon they could at least get the description to up the contents in the box.  Other than that, this looks like a very nice little scale model of a very large helicopter.  Actually, two helicopters are provided in this kit.

Just as a point of interest,I owned one of the original Peerless 155mm gun. It would have been a bear to build. Unlike the later Italarie/Testors issue it had a metal barrel to which were added plastic parts at both ends. It also had real springs  that nobody who tried could compress and metal rods to make up the assembly both sides of the barrel. This was plastic in the Testors issue as was the barrel.  It was not motorized, however.  But the biggest laugh was the "radio" both had. It was so large a man could get inside !!!  It was really a field generator and a very nice one at that !!!  I had the chance to compare both editions and was glad to see those metal parts go !!!
I may be old but I'm not dead ... yet anyway ... !!!    And NO I did not know Richard III !!!!!!

Yep, I'm in the same boat! I have a list of subjects I want to build but after some previous fiascos with funky old resin kits and subsequent releases of better and cheaper injection kits, I'm reluctant to put out the money. And it's not just the ONE injection kit of the obscure/experimental/paper project subject that will come out but two or three!

That Nimrod turret looks modern enough that you could swap it onto something from the 1950s/1960s, and the gun is, of course universal. Walker Bulldog perhaps, as an alternative to the M-42 Duster? Comet or Cromwell as a means of using up obsolete hulls? You could even give it range-only radar like an M-163...

Comet hull would be a good choice for British Army or maybe a Centurion if the turret diameter is a bit large.

Mights as well use the equivalent turret to the Crusader III AA:

Though I suppose you could say that the Nimrod turret design was an alternate contender.

Might be better off just applying that stuff with a byro in the appropriate colour.

Best not tell FinsRin about this or he will be looking at converting it into a multi-engine jumbo load lifter :)

***addendum: the box art suggests that the kit might include the figures and the equipment stacked near the Horsa, that would indeed be a nice addition to the kit if that is the case.  Though the parachute supply containers are not really necessary, some of the other items would certainly fit right in.

Jeff, the Horsa could carry supply containers under the wing centre-section, three each side.

The ability to carry the containers dates from the original idea of using Horsas to drop paratroops.  It was seen as a way of increasing the number dropped on a given mission, the glider being towed home and released over the home airfield where it could land and be reused.  I can't remember ever reading of that being done nor the containers being carried on operations.

Hanging for the Lloyd Carrier.

Currently building the Airborne Jeep with 6 Pounder AT gun.
The jeep is nice, but very fiddly with the usual parts for the sake of adding to the parts count.. is there really any reason to have six PE latch catches on the bonnet when they could have been moulded on ?

Some clever thinking at the same time, you get 3 options for the front suspension with fixed settings, turn right, turn left and directly forward, which does make it nice and easy to set the suspension.

I like the gun crew's regulation poses.  ;D

Probably due to only having training footage/pics to work from.

Wonder if there are any images of the para's artillery in action at Arnhem? Pretty sure they wouldn't have been in regulation poses.

Still, it's a common fault with artillery crew figures - & figures in general. Model companies should use their imagination a little more for their figures.

Yes, there are plenty of photos of the Paras using 75mm guns at Arnhem.  And yes, they weren't in regulation poses, particularly when the enemy arty was landing.  They were dug in there, quite deep, which would have made direct fire impossible.  IIRC they dug in and around the Vicarage.  I have a book on the battery in the battle somewhere (IIRC I lent it to my thieving brother ;D ).

Yes, perty much scaled up from the Airfix 1:48th scale Quad ATV kit and that is why I like it so much more :)

I think I have at least four of the Airfix kits in the stash at the moment.  The larger Quad ATV allows me to dispose of several die-cast metal/plastic toy Quad ATV things that I had picked up as a last resort.

Now if someone would only offer up a decent snowmobile and sledge combination in addition to some decent x-country motorcycle subjects in 1:35th scale ... :\

Nice touch in that Bronco set: the guy at front right is holding an L129A1 sharpshooter rifle, which was a very recent, low-key purchase (2012) that many people don't even realise we've got.

Save your money and do as Frank says, the kit is cheap and you are not stuck with a spare tank.  In fact the Mirage kit is cheap enough you could make a road train that Old Wombat would be envious of :)
