I am sure I had posted before but can't find it.

Someone actually has built it:

Yup. Alpini is my guess. Could also be Austrian gebirgsjäger. Aren't you glad I narrowed that down?

 ;D  Headwear are the tip-offs. The upper image showed AH Gebirgsjäger (in Bergmütze-style feldkappen).

The lower showed Alpini (wearing raven-feathered Cappelli Alpini). The Alpini belong to one of the Reggimenti Artiglieria Terrestre (montagna) - the slung piece being a Cannone da 70 A Mont.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm thinking most of these translate either way.

Was that gun facing to the left when they fired it?

Hoisting that stuff up the mountains surely takes guts and skill!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QF_3.7-inch_AA_gun#/media/File:AWM_108885_2_7th_Field_Regiment_and_2_9th_Armoured_Regiment_Tarakan_June_1945.jpg

An Australian QF 3.7 inch gun (at centre) operating in the direct fire role during the Battle of Tarakan in 1945

From far to near;
   A Matilda II which has just fired its 3" Howitzer (I think - it could be the 2-pdr but the barrel looks too big) plus a couple of others just hanging around checking what all the fuss is about.
   A QF 3.7" which fired moments before the photo was taken, the dust is still swirling
   A 25-pdr which looks like it's just about to fire

Talk about a mixed bag artillery battery!  :-\
