Has anyone ever seen anything about how Lycoming's R7755 would have been installed in the B-36?

I haven't seen anything but given it was longer (3.082m vs 2.6m) and heavier (2,740 kg vs 1,690 kg) than the B-36's normal R-4360s it could have been interesting to fit.  I presume more would have to be inside the wing.  Mind you, that could have proven challenging:

What if YB-60 entered in service and several years later a powerplant update was applied?

BTW: I think that tailfin is quite oversized in this plane. What do you think?

I'd recently tripped over three built 1/72nd Monogram models good for salvage; a B-36 and two B-29s for $50 (before shipping), if anyone's a glutton for projects.

Found that forward fuselage sections of Amodel Bison and Monogram B-36 are so near same diameter as to be interchangeable.   Hmmm....
Is counter intuitive.

At stash today so did a B-36 count.
1/72 kits > 47
1/72 built/used (donors) > 5
1/144 kits > 13
1/184 Kits > 12

At garage found 1/144 B-36 kit that likely did not make previous count.
Preparing garage (getting non-model stuff in order) for unboxing boxes of kits and piles of kits to do total sorting-organizing.  Is largest of seven stashes.
Gotta be well over 1000 kits in this location.  Be a many days effort.
Bunch of new standing shelves been assembled and ready to go.

Having a few 1/72 B-36 in stash, could build all these:
>  Fire bomber.  Like to use real fire bomber livery.
>  Crop duster.  Probably have to make up livery.
>  USN MPA version with MAD stinger tail. Livery like 1960s Neptune.
>  USN floatplane version.  Remember B-10 became B-12 floatplane.
>  KB-36 with boom and drogue stations.
>  AWACS version.
>  Modernized SAC bomber version.
>  Gunship inspired by AC-130.
>  USAF Thunderbirds demo version.
>  Air Force One with appropriate livery.

Would keep me busy for couple of years  ???
Where to heck to put them all  :-\

Random inspiration:

More on this:

I don't know about the rest of you, but that Just screams "USCG HB-36" to me. Put a search radar where the nose gun was and put a big life boat instead of the X-15 in the belly.

USCG HB-36 is excellent concept
Long endurance for searching and can carry multiple boats of type B-17 based PB-1G carried.  Lot of inflatable rafts and rations packages too.

While at garage stash looked at salvaged built kinda ruff 1/72 B-36 fuselage.  Sizing things up found if sliced fuselage just in front & behind of wing mount enlargements shortening fuselage, that 1/48 B-58 wings attached mid-height otta work.  Full length fuselage is big for size of B-58 wings.  When shortened it looks more appropriate.  Could use B-58 tailfin and find donor horizontal stabilizers.  Maybe figure out a pointy nose something like B-60 or leave as is.

Finished build can be B-94.    36 + 58 = 94

>  USN floatplane version.  Remember B-10 became B-12 floatplane.

Not to be pedantic, but the B-12 was not the designation for the floatplane version of the B-10.  The B-12 was the B-10 re-engined with P&W Hornets.  The floatplane version did not have a separate designation, but floats were fitted to a single B-12 (I've seen it reported as "YB-12," "B-12A" and "B-12AM."  The last is unlikely since the "M" suffice indicated that bomb shackles and other equipment had been removed, and this did not happen until later, when the bomb racks were needed for the B-17).  It is possible that the YB-12 was later redesignated as B-12A (a common enough practice).  The Edo floats were removed after the testing was complete and the aircraft went into regular service as a B-12A.

I have to say I like the USCG version a lot. It could cruise up and down the coasts a couple of times. USGC stations in Maine and Florida, then on to Brownsville, Texas. A couple more in San Diego and Seattle. One in Anchorage, Alaska for out and back flights and you're done.
