The preceding Yellow and Blue numbers demonstrate that new species of "flying fish" are continually being found.  Beautiful work on them and the red one before them.

I love how the yellow fish's tail has the same sweep angle as the P-61 fins! Great stuff  :)

Yak-15 & trumpet, guitar, syringue Re: hybrid aircraft/animals and others
« Reply #855 on: March 01, 2017, 05:09:34 AM »

There seems to reign a kind of Yak frenzy around here, and it just happens I treated a few Yak-15s
(the  1/72 PM kit, a nice basis for this kind of exercice I would say  ;), I once got half a dozen for very cheap)

I am still fascinated by this record cover

I even bought the LP, just to see it (the music is kind of fun too, actually)

so here is the trumpet Yak-15 :

and the guitar Yak-15 :

and then, something completely different, the syringe Yak-15 (from an used anti-flu vaccine) :

Ericr, I have a question about your syringe Yak-15: when the piston goes forward, what happens to the tail ? either:
1- it moves forward also, because solidly attached to the piston;
or
2- it stays at the same place (hold by a little boom at the center of the moving piston, scale 1 I mean, for "Real").
Which one? 1 or 2? ??? :)

I'd vote for #2.  It would take some careful structural design, but it's doable.  The model would need some tweaking to show this properly.
