The first A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport aircraft “CC330 Husky” for the RCAF took to the skies for the very first time today at our Getafe facilities in Spain!

Everything is on track for delivery next year.

The RCAF's CC-330 MRTT will be equipped with both hose-and-drogue and boom air-to-air refuelling capabilities, along with advanced cybersecurity solutions and countermeasures.

Normal P-38Ls have the turbo-superchargers;

Lockheed P-38L Lightning at the National Museum of the United States Air Force

The Red Bull Lightning has the engine cowlings of an early P-38 (from the YP-38 to the P-38H series)

You'll note even the YP-38 has the turbo-superchargers.

Only the few Model 322s (P-38E) delivered to the RAF had no turbo-superchargers (due to US export restrictions) & were found to be unsuitable for active service.

There is a guy who built a sub scale P-38 look a like that uses regular civilian aircraft engines so doesn’t have the turbos. Best way to tell is the pilot. He looks like Mongo in the cockpit.

This evening's eclipse , from sunny Tipton . . .

Sony Alpha 700 , Cosina 100-400mm zoom lens , first three using auto exposure and Auto ISO , the last one I dialled up to ISO 6400 to increase the shutter speed and reduce camera shake ( the camera's exposure system and anti-shake function couldn't cope at maximum eclipse . . . )
I used a Celestron Solar Filter meant for a telescope , I had to hold the camera in one hand whilst holding the filter up to the camera lens with the other . . .

we watched the eclipse too, tried making some shots but i didnt have the right filters (didnt bother buying one, just for a one-time use, too expensive), so i tried with a pair of eclypse glasses over my phone, didnt work that well either.

I've had the filter I used donkey's years , from when I was into astronomy and telescopes . I thought I'd thrown it away , but I found it in my 'Big Box of Optical Bits' , so I tried it . I was also literally standing on my front door step . . .
