Supersonic transport M wing design at the rear with delta wing test model in the foreground circa Fairey Delta 2 era.

The W-wing Harrier model, on display at the FAST Museum, was adapted by DERA Farnborough in the early 1990s (in collaboration with BAe) to test the suitability of an M or W wing for use on a STOVL aircraft.

Note Gloster Javelin wooden wind tunnel model top right.

Its not that its not real but it could be that its not true.

Here is why the An-124 was in Toronto earlier this month:

Update Air Canada Airbus A321 C-GJWO damaged in a ground collision in Toronto on Dec 26, is still undergoing repairs. Yesterday an Antonov An124 cargo plane brought in a new tail from Airbus (Hamburg). The Boeing 777-300 involved  returned to service a few days later. The A321 is also flying again.

The 777 wing had just hit and spun the A320 abut 30 degrees. The full (OMG, I just lost my job) video is here: https://twitter.com/TomPodolec/status/1211803214401720327

ARLINGTON, Va. — The U.S. Navy has given its E-2 Hawkeye squadrons a new designation to more accurately reflect the aircraft’s expanded capabilities and missions.

The service has changed the name from Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron to Airborne Command and Control Squadron, effective Jan. 1, said Lt. Travis Callaghan, a spokesman for commander, Naval Air Forces, in response to a query from Seapower.

Boeing 307 converted to a C-75.

Conversion to the C-75 included removal of the pressurization equipment to save weight, alteration of the forward cabin to provide space for crew requirements on extremely long flights and for the addition of five additional fuel tanks. The landing gear was strengthened, the maximum takeoff weight was increased from 45,000 to 56,000 lb, and the exterior was painted olive drab.
