Field mods like this are still of dubious value - see how the Russian ones have proven ineffectual.  I suggest the following is worth watching:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhfGspOIg24

Don't be so hasty ... Perun is definitely worth any amount of time expended. His 'videos' are basically just PowerPoint displays but they are packed with pithy insights and solid research.

He hasn't posted anything new for two weeks and I, personally, am going through some fairly serious withdrawal symptoms!

If it is the specific subject area that you are unwilling to spend that time on, I'd suggest browsing the Perun playlists.

Each and every Perun video is a potential gateway drug ... I'm just hoping that my weekly fix will be resumed on Sunday night. Still, "first thing you learn is that you always gotta wait".

This is very good video.
He's balanced, take a cautious view towards his sources and has a good understanding of the situation. I suspect his approach to sources comes from academic training because this is a required approach there although to be honest there's always been a segment of society that has intrinsically understood 'all sources have an inherent bias'.
A big problem on the 'reporting' coming from Ukraine is that most of the commentators don't bother to distinguish between the regular and irregular forces or attempt to understand their logistics. Groups such as the irregular Ukrainian militias or the irregular Donbass militias essentially rely on donated equipment and scrounge from military storehouses.
As I've consistently maintained through this conflict that's been brewing since 2008 we won't really know the 'truth' about things for at least twenty years. I base this on the releases from all prior conflicts I've studied at uni and since then.

Not hasty, familiar with Perun.  I'm disinclined because - as we have seen countless times - all weapons systems go through a growth pattern from their genesis.

Like the cope cage's first appearance, I'm sure there were similar dismissive reactions to those silly tanks of 1915.  ??? ;)

Agree.  In that particular video there is an aspect of the Abrams that my company is actually working to solve.  Will hopefully launch it in the coming months.

People thought slat/bar armor was silly even though it was used by the brown water navy in Vietnam. Now everyone has it.

No not everyone, but many of the usual loudmouth types. Most of those were politicians. Every time the military comes up with something new the usual suspects come out to say how terrible it is even when they have no clue what its about or how it works.
I also recall how many armor units in Vietnam set up makeshift chain link fencing around their vehicles at night to stop rpg type warheads.

The chain link pretty much is morale armour because a 66mm M72 LAW will spear right through it as tests showed in the USA. That said, the PG-7V grenade fired from the RPG-7 has a bare piezo fuze in the front of the grenade* so it's possible it might detonate early but even so it needs a stand-off of 450mm at least to disrupt the jet. This doesn't stop people using chain link because any chance is better than none.

(Evidently in Afghanistan the RPG gunners of the ANA didn't like the idea with messing around with the fuze protector cap in combat so the moment they loaded the weapon they took off the cap. A friend of mine was on the back of a truck when one guy decided to climb up with him, scaring the life out of him as this bare fuze was waving around)

Neither slat armour nor chain link fencing were designed to activate the warhead of an RPG (their intended foe) but to disrupt their flight path, to knock the warhead off kilter, so that it didn't hit within its effective range of angle of impact, thereby rendering it ineffective.

Both were quite effective at this, the slat armour being somewhat more effective.

The slat/bar armor was also good at actually crushing the warhead when it hit the slat, even if the fuze made it through. This deformed or destroyed the shape of the shaped charge and made the blast ineffective.

I'm sure there was a resin conversion of the M1 AD, I think it was 1/35 and that it came out of Scotland by the same crew that made the Israeli Centurion MLRS.
