Wild Ass and Gorgeous simulacrum

Inspired by the wild ass and gorgeous magazine cover jet, I was thinking of how to build one and rather than get a few new kits to butcher, none of which would be perfect, I just decided to cut up some moldering in the stash- a Lindberg F-100 and a Heller Le Redoutable.  The missile deck of the sub at least mimics  the flat bottom of the F-100.  I sank the tailfin to a slightly swoopier angle and the wings will just be sheet plastic starfighter type.  I want this to go together quickly- we'll see how that works. The major investment will be a can of silver car paint.

Looking good!
I’m trying one too. F-104 front fuselage from the Heller kit.

Trying to make steady progress on this.  Decided I could cut down the F-100 wings, change some angles and make them work,  I saved the wingtips and re-attached to the cut down versions.  After some looking and test fitting the canopy from a generic toy jet fighter should work after being sanded down to fit. Maybe a little wide, but at this point not worth taking out a longitudinal 3mm slice.  In profile, an A-10 canopy is is just about the right shape but it would have to be about 1/60 scale to work on Le Redoutable.

Just for giggles. I knew there was a French aircraft like this.

Leduc 0.22. Failed French ram jet fighter concept. Intended to do Mach 2 , couldn't even reach Mach 1

That's what the Treacherous French- referencing Deathrace 2000- want you to believe. The BD-5 J was just a decoy.

Coming along... Need to glue the wings on, cut a slot for the tailplane and excavate for a cockpit.  Seems like there is almost enough  room for a 1/48 ejection seat.

Very interesting build. Working off a magazine cover pic...

Although I had to do a double take on it for the author compared to the What If thread

Some more progress.  The ejection seat barely clears the canopy, but it does.  A glue dribble to correct, but coming together.

Interesting watching two different takes on the same subject coming together at the same time!
