 This one's for Al.

The Royal Canadian Monster Police was formed in 1956, in the wake of the unexpected fallout1 from the US's ill advised "Operation Experiment". which detonated a series of medium yield hydrogen devices between 1952 and 1954. The resultant thawing of large numbers of prehistoric creatures (Well documented in films like "The Beast" and "The Jelly"2 would created biological disasters throughout the Northwest, from Anchorage to Winnipeg. The St. Laurent government, initially wary of involvement with the notorious University of Science of the Southern Arctic3, would eventually collaborate to create the Petrie class of Anthropic Restrainment Machine4 for the newest branch of Canadian Law Enforcement. Standing 25 meters tall, the "Metal Mounties" as the press quickly dubbed them, could fell a Rhedosaurus with a single blow from their 'rocket fists'.

More history as the work progresses. This dated and toy-like model of the Mach Baron robot (A show akin to Johnny Sokko and His Giant Robot, Space Giants and Ultraman) has been in my stash for ages-and inspiration struck. (Hey, it's molded in bright red.)
