THE UNITED STATES OF CANADA
« on: Yesterday at 02:38:08 PM »
In 1790 an independent Federal Republic of Canada is established. The charter was signed by seven original states in Quebec City. The founding states are Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador. This groundbreaking alliance broke free from the British control and laid out a new direction for the North American continent.
The governing system included a balance of powers between the central parliament and the regional states. Ontario and Quebec served as an industrial and agricultural core along the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. The maritime states of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island bring a considerable political weight with a naval and shipping agreement.
Newfoundland and Labrador to the north-eastern part of Canada added fishing industry and strategically placed ports to the federal states. The difficult lifestyle of these coastal territories made the leaders self-reliant and tough political figures, advocating for a strong naval defence and unrestricted trade with Europe.
