Junkers Ju 87B Stuka SZ+FS Airfix 1/72 kitNo.01011-3

Junkers Ju 87B Stuka SZ+FS Airfix 1/72 kitNo.01011-3 a blister pack released in 1973. This is the original Airfix 1/72 Stuka mold from 1957, and I had apparently built it 6 times previously for friends before I actually did this one.

A Repair/rebuild of a damaged model originally built in 1978 (in one day) and hung from my room's ceiling, the photo is of the model hanging in my room 16May1979.

This photo is the model just prior to the start of the repair/rebuild,

Repair/Rebuild started 30Mar2020 and finished finally 17Jan2026.
It was initially going to be an as close to OOB restoration as possible, but my AMS got the better of me and I started to modify the model to make it more believable. It's actually a Junkers Ju 87B-1 Stuka S2+FS from II/StG77, Low Countries 1940, so the incorrect codes were fixed and the Stuka's markings were made more historically accurate,

The model is finished in Airfix's own paints, plus Humbrol, Tamiya, Gunze and Vallejo.
Thanks for looking,

Found buried where it had crashed in a small lake near Woumen, Belgium, towards the end of 1941, the Junkers Ju.87B Stuka S2+FS was recovered & restored to near new condition by a team of one (1) dedicated ex-RAN FAA aircraft technician known cryptically on the internet only as "FAAMAN".

Well done, old son!

Thankyou young Trackerite!!!
Not sure why, but I originally used all Humbrol to finish this back in 1978 so my notes said, seemed an odd choice when I had heaps of Airfix paint on hand!!!
Lots of mods went into it. Creating the chin radiator matrix in place of the blank wall, filing in and adding plasticard to make the oil cooler intake and exhaust on the top of the nose (reference the "before" pic), making the missing bomb trapeze and fitting the spinner from a Frog Shackleton over the very undersize Airfix one to correct the nose shape a bit, not perfect but not bad.
Plenty of issues with the finishes on this not properly bonding for some obscure reason causing a fair bit of consternation for the builder. Basically stripped three times, not good when I have dwindling stocks of Airfix paint but got there in the end.
Very pleased with the finished product.
Do you remember it at all hanging in my room???

 My God !  I've rebuilt a few models too.

I wonder what a (captured ?) Stuka in FAA markings would look like.
