This LS dual subject kit was released in 1976. It was yanked out of my stash for a "quick build" whilst on a bit of leave in 1983, a Sunday, and 42 years, 7 months and 8 days later, finished.
Yep, "quick build" . . . .
LS KitNo. 108:100 Nakajima Ki-43-II 'Oscar' and Nakajima Ki-84-KO 'Frank' Japanese Army Fighters 1/144scale from 1976. Built 15May1983 to 24Dec2025.

Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa (Peregrine Falcon)
Allied reporting name
'Oscar'
is depicted as a machine operated by the 64th Air Combat Regiment, 3rd Company (yellow tail marking), Company Commanders Aircraft, Thailand late 1944. Finished this model 05Dec2025 and wanted to wait to post the pair together. Lots of debate over this colour scheme but in the end I just used the colours depicted on the box top that I had been looking at, on and off for a 'while' . . . I wanted to model this in a 'not too worn' finish, chipped and weathered but not too much as these aircraft were kept in reasonably good condition by their maintenance crews, it came out ok just a little too weathered.

Nakajima Ki-84-KO Hayate (Gale) "White 41"
Allied reporting name
'Frank'
is depicted as a machine operated by the 11th Fighter Group, 3rd Company (Squadron), Phillipines Autumn 1944. Confusingly the aircraft was Attached to the 12th Air Brigade, 4th Air Army flying from (and eventually captured at) Clark Field Oct 1944. This one was finished 24Dec2025. I wanted to represent a worn example of a Hayate, but not too overdone, hard to do in this scale but I think I came someway to achieve that finish.
