Title: Douglas World Cruiser - A One Wing Biplane
Post by: robunos on September 03, 2021, 05:26:09 AM: Okay, a bit of a palate cleanser from the recent diet of 'Black Diamonds' . . .
This is the Douglas World Cruiser from the old Williams Brothers Kit. The Build Log will be terse with this one, I'm just going to enjoy the model making process . . .
Here we go, the basic fuselage,

and the forward top decking. This has already been painted inside, and strips added to help locate it on the fuselage.

The wing, with the strut holes filled,

A quick update, the 'engine' assembled and painted,

and the airframe erected . . . the engine has to be added at this point, as it's not possible to fit it later, the peg that represents the carburettor intake pipe fits into a hole in the top cowling, so the 'engine' has to be put in first . . .

Hmmm. Assuming it is still a DWC, the tail stripe colour is reversed (should be blue/white/red from May 1919 to November 1926).

Now that the model is finally finished, and you can see the pictures, all can be revealed . . .
I forgot to paint inside the engine bay, before I fitted the engine (see picture #9). . . :-[

@Frank, I got a good finish in the end, but I had to resort to rattle cans . . . the final coat is Humbrol 154 Ingignia Yellow, which I think is a good match for Chrome Yellow, brush painted over Tamiya Spray TS-16 Yellow.
