tamiya Meteor in 1/48
having built a couple of the tamiya P47 i can understand why its often recommended to beginners as a first kit.
in that vein, i think i could recommend this kit as a bees knee behind the P47 in ease and delight to build. instructions are clear, everything fits, and the kit comes with the nose weight and a dedicated slot to put it in. this just flowed together so easily.
i just wish i had Republic decals to add to this....

Great idea and well executed.

:icon_vader: Impressive!
Had clave's profile in my inspiration folders for quite some time as well. Cool to see someone pull this off.
Just a tad sad that since this was modelled in the landing configuration the S-foils couldn't be built extended. But I understand you have to compromise somewhere along the line. ;)
Where did you source the R2 unit?
EDIT: I couldn't resist. The dark side was just too strong..... :icon_vader:

Rumour has it the wings on a Special Hobby Meteor would be far too thick anyway. ;)

Thanks gents.
Chernaya, i really debated leaving the wheels up and having the diive brakes(?) Open. It was a close call but landing gear won. I guess i could have done the top ones open now that i think about it.
The R2 was a serendipitous find at a toy store while shopping for christmas gifts. It looked about 1/48ish scale and at 5 bucks wasn't going to break the bank. It was however in awful black plastic so it took some amateur painting with a hairy stick, and a very careful drill through the top of the built model to finish.

Painting on the R2 looks on point.
