Hi guys
Being a fan of SSC (Super Sonic Cars, for those less familiarized with the acronym :)) I am following attentively the British Bloodhound Saga.
Last February they reached 629mph in Hakskeen Pan, South Africa, and I hope next year they will finally break the bloody (hence the "blood" in the name :) ) record!
It has been also a racing against financial problems, so good luck for the team!
I have had for some time the intention of building a scaled down version of something that would remotely resembles that iconic vehicle.
And the opportunity came up when I got for free a Corsair A7-D Revell 1/72 kit with no canopy.

Later on I found out it is the old Matchbox mold
(https://i.postimg.cc/pLryqKQz/cheetah-02.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
So the surgery begun...

And after a few intermediary steps...

(https://i.postimg.cc/G2w2LNWx/cheetah-05.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
In the meanwhile, I had to choose a name for the craft.
And the obvious choice is the name of the fastest land animal, the elegant Cheetah! Now that's a proper name for the fastest land vehicle! :)
After finding some wheels and a few minor tweaks, the monster is completed...

Now I need to find a proper base and a suitable driver!
Thanks for watching!

WOW !
What a simple and brilliant idea . . .
cheers,
Robin.

Simply works.

I consider you a genius for turning a SLUF into a Lightning!!!
-
that looks cool. well done
-
Thanks!
I found a base (the lid of a ferrero rocher chocolat box :)) and a driver.
He was so reluctant in participating that I had to promise him he could wear his sturdy dog bite protection suit :)

Next stop: Paintjobville!

I like it. Looking forward to a flashy paint job.

It's the Michelin Man! :D
... Or is it the Stay Puft Man? ??? :o ;D

Next stop: Paintjobville!
Looks very cool, but might I suggest thinning the intake lip of the outer inlet annulus? It's looking kinda flat and decidedly non-supersonic at the moment. :-D

Good reuse of an ancient kit! Where did you get the driver?
-
Hi guys
Too late for modification. sorry! I already painted it. This is a fast car, right? :)
That's also the result of too much free time. Blame it on the virus :)
Regarding the driver figure, it was a more or less successful attempt at replicating figures using oyumaru (the blue stuff) that I tried some time ago.
This was the first run with millliput white
(https://i.postimg.cc/HstfDw5V/space-04.jpg)
Later on I tried some other brand (forgot the name) with a yellow finish.
Due to a over zealous stuffing, the replicas resulted slightly "fatter" than the originals, hence the Michelin look :)
As for the Cheetah, it is finished!
First was the base colors (with airbrush and masking)

(https://i.postimg.cc/T2rRg8Zs/cheetah-14.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/65Kb1TDx/cheetah-15.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Then the driver, which now looks like a teenage mutant ninja turtle without the shell ;D
(https://i.postimg.cc/dt9NMwYk/cheetah-16.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
And, to finish, a nice glossy coat, applied with brush (2 coast, 1 hour apart), to make it more aerodynamic :)
(https://i.postimg.cc/4xCLc3b0/cheetah-18.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/pTdqv5Rm/cheetah-19.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/zf704FZm/cheetah-20.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/KYx09sWr/cheetah-21.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/k4hwgMgf/cheetah-22.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/0jTf7tmS/cheetah-23.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/Gt8K80Br/cheetah-24.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/CxjvsVcx/cheetah-25.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/668xLyn6/cheetah-26.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
And that's how it went to the display case. Finished for now!
My original idea was to fill it with lots of commercial brands decals, like a rally car, but unfortunately I have noting of the sort.
So I cheated and added some "decals" by software manipulation....
(https://i.postimg.cc/MKL6QH5V/cheetah-27.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
And that was pretty much how imagined the whole thing :)
If I have the chance to get real decals, I will add them.
Thanks for watching!

Oh that is a fine result  And the "software manipulation" looks great too ;D
-
"Corona" made me grin. ;D

Ok, up until the last photo.. I was sort of.. well where is all the advertising. Something like this does not run on goodwill ;D
last image.. nailed it. Good use of pix manipulation to fill the voids.
Great build all around
-
Good one. You finished it up nicely.
-
Excellent from having concept through to finish. Color scheme with mix of sponsor logos is spot on. 8)
