Title: RAN F4, A4, Huey air wing
Post by: pigflyer on September 15, 2016, 11:52:55 PM
Just at the end of the Vietnam war, Australian under water explorers found a huge cache of possibly the rarest mineral on Earth; Unbelievium.
Knowing the value of the find, and the need to protect it, Australia ordered two carriers nearly twice the size of the Melbourne, fitted for F4J  and A4 operations.
To speed delivery they were ordered from the U.S. The F4s were soon upgraded to full F4S standard, but remained F4J Aus designated.
The A4 was ordered as the A4F Aus, which was in production as the F, and simply added their own mods.
Huey's were bought to cover SAR needs and other assorted duties, and carried a search light on the port side, for night ops of all kinds.

Let me know if you would like further details, hope you like 'em.

Very nice work.

What is the:
Standard atomic weight
Electronegativity (Pauling)
First Ionization Energy (eV)
Radii (pm)
- Atomic
- Van der Waals
- Covalent
Valence electrons

of Unbelievium?   ;D ;D

Not bad! :)

You need to do the Toom in the same scheme as the Duck. ;)

Which toom Wombat, the trials one, with the tiger, or the full in service one? I do have at least one more toom in stock.

I was talking the RAN version pictured above.

Nice one (well, nice three actually).  :)

If the carriers are big enough for Phantoms, wouldn't they go for a bigger strike aircraft like the A-7 though?

After buying Phantoms and the carriers big enough to operate them, the government had no money left for anything beefier than Scooter? :P

Hi gang, thanks for the comments and interest.
A4 because the RAN was already familiar with it and could easily take it on.
The F4 is no slouch in the strike roll if needed.
Sorry Wombat, had a sober moment, yes, F4 with the scooter camo, Hmmmm, must add to the list.

The U.S.A. tried to interest the Aussie navy in the Pave claw programme. The GAU Avenger in a pod idea was not a huge winner, however,
one very smart armourer had a brain wave. He noticed that he could modify the attachments to make a firmer, more accurate gun mount. With more work, and dropping to a four barrel 20mm gun, for a slightly smaller rate of fire, average air to air gunnery scores were improved by 18% on average, as were air to ground scores.
The new system was taken up and named the Funnel web.

Those are really sweet and the paint work on the Huey is especially nice.

However, I really like the A4! I've always had a soft-spot for that one and it's not just because Scooterman hails from the 'Burgh either. Your version is one of the sharpest I've seen in a while! Nice work!
