Today my son wanted to buy a ball and we went to the toy store... of course I was unable to resist the model part of it, I bought one...
-
My project was to make a glider from it, without air intake below nor jet exhaust at the rear, like I did in the past but now 1/144 and version 16C (no more YF-16 1/48 nor F-16XL 1/72)... but the content included a good surprise: 2 complete fins and 4 complete tailplanes (the instruction sheet saying the extra fin and tailplanes are "unused")! I will use them all! or part of them for sure! 2 fins, or V-tail, and maybe canard foreplanes, biplane? ??? :-\ ;)
-
Soo.. it will be almost flat below the wing?
You could install one set of tailplanes behind the cockpit, like some do on radio control aerobatics competition models:

It could be a modern version of the DFS Stummel-Habicht ;D

... Open cockpit?

Thanks a lot for the good idea of tailplanes behind the cockpit! I may choose it, I don't know, but I thank you anyway! ;)
-
great project ! :D

Anybody can make suggestions - but you are the one in charge of this one :))
-
great project ! :D
Thanks!
And you know: as red paint (water-based) is included in the kit, there is 50% probability that I paint it all red (ericr's fashion ;) )! or I well let it grey, unpainted, I am not sure yet... ???
-
there is 50% probability that I paint it all red (ericr's fashion ;) )! or I well let it grey, unpainted, I am not sure yet... ???
The probability has raised to 60% because:
- no more 50% because there is a hole for installing the central fin, and if I use two lateral fins, I will need putty to fill the hole, then paint to hide this putty, so no more plastic grey aspect; :)
- not 100% because I consider an asymmetric layout with one central fin and one lateral fin... :-\
-
With the big size of the fin, the central fin hypothesis goes out I think, and the project of mine takes shape...
-
I have removed the parts from the sprues. I will use 9 parts, among 104 parts... but I will use the 3 "not to be used"!
-
Corrected project, seeing the curvature of the wing-fuselage and the size of the tailplanes:
-
I really like where this one is headed, mon ami! Going with twin rudders is truly inspired thinking!
Your boundless imagination never fails to delight and amaze me!

Thanks a lot, Brian!
Well, the model is taking shape... and I had the joy that a difference of fins' versions lengths made me choose a slightly asymmetric layout... (long distance WingTip-fin on starboard, short distance WingTip-fin on port)... :D
-
The last parts are glued on, ready to paint (another day...).
I am glad how this turned, thanks Revell for the "unused parts"!
-
Wow did that ever fall together nicely, Tophe!
It's going to look fantastic in red!

-
Christophe,looks very good,I like it
-
Thanks!
Now the model is finished (my way, with no wheels nor weapons nor roundels...).
The painting is inspired by ericr's marvels, this is a camo for flight in hell or over a volcano >:D
-
Or Mars...well done !
-
in red it has a devilish look >:D ;D
-
Yeah, the Devil's Ride, it needs 666 on the top fuselage!!! >:D Great work, Tophe!! :icon_alabanza:
-
Nice one
-
That's a real stunner, mon ami and one of my favorites yet of all your wonderful models!
I bet your son thinks it's cracker-jack too!
Great stuff, Tophe!

Thanks a lot for all your comments... I may be the worst modeller of the forum (as far as skills are concerned) but it is fine that my inventions make you smile.
A several-sides view may be added:
-
Nice one
-
I like it!
It has a sort of PZL-230 looks to it :-*
-
Looks like a futuristic space fighter
-
As it is a glider ... what do you use to get it up in the air?
I'd be afraid to attempt such asymmetric airplanes - but some people "boldly go where no man has gone before" ;D

As it is a glider ... what do you use to get it up in the air?
The top-secret is the pilot practicing meditation and spirit force then it goes up and flies! Incredible but... no, just incredible ;)
