What we have here folks is the Westland Wasp. Westland in the 1920’s and 30’s tried several times to win a fighter design with the RAF but continually lost to the other well-known manufacturers. Westland tried and failed with the Wizard, Interceptor, C.O.W. Gun Fighter and the PV.4.
To get back into the Fighter business, Westland setup a partnership with Boeing.
Our resident “Spat-pert” (and you know who you are) will recognize this as the Boeing P-26A Peashooter but with some modifications. The Wasp was a P-26A with the wire rigging replaced with aluminium tubing. It also had a Bristol Jupiter engine option.
This is a Wasp in service with the Slovak Airforce in 1938.
The kit is the ever resilient Revell P-26A. Decals are from Blue Rider Slovak Air Force Avia B.534. I added the wing struts and thin wire antenna. Painted with a Mk. 1 hairy stick.
Stealing a page from the playbook of Brian da Basher, I picked a low part count kit (20 + my 6) and simple decals (6). And voila it was built in a week but it could have been done sooner. Back to the Amish way of modelling. ;)

Nicely done!! :)

My what lovely spats you have there!
:-* :-* :-*
I especially like the very creditable mod replacing the wire bracing with tubing, absolutely inspired!
The Jupiter engine is a natural too and adds to the believability!
Love the color scheme and very cool, unique markings too! Very eye-catching!
I may have to save these pics for additional study...

Thanks Brian and others.
The engine is still the stock R1340 but I will try to source a Jupiter for another P-26 in my stash.
The paint scheme is what was listed on the decal sheet. Dark green upper and silver lower. I added the red cowling just because I had too. 8)
The kit has all the openings to run thread/fishing line as guide wires but I filled them in.
