So it turns out sci fi wasn't what I needed to get my interest back but a return to airships seems to be working. First in the hanger the refurbishment of my Maquette R-100 which was looking a little ratty.

And of course the next two are now waiting

We will see what you will turn them into... (I was not much interested in airships, but your post makes me dream of Mustang airships, I will see if this "works", on paper...) ;) Thanks!
EDIT: (done in a few minutes, a very little impossible airship... thanks again!):

Mustang Airships, be interested to see them. These ones will be quite boringly turned into what they are on the box top. I have other spare envelopes that will make some fictional ships soon, plus another Hindenburg on the way to make the Hindenburg III from Sky Captain for the movies category of our local show.
-
Note: my Hindenbustang above is very small for an airship, but it is not filled with Helium or Hydrogen at last (too heavy 90g/m³) but with little mechanical vacuum (60g/m³, far from the big mechanical vacuum 1g/m³ that would require very solid/heavy cover). Is this invention an old one, obviously impossible, or a new one, geniously by myself for a new World??

Given you have 3 kits it is obvious that you are preparing for a "Racing Airships" diorama...

Racing airships would be magnificent!
That R-100 is a real gem of a kit. A little rough in places, but it can finish up very nicely.
I built one a while back...

I have no doubt yours will top my best effort and then some! Can't wait to see how your airships finish up!

Not sure about that.
I've had this one for a while, built just as R-100.

After being stored she was starting to look a little ratty so I decided to refurbish her. Would like second one at some time to try something like yours though. She will just be R-100 after the rebuild.I intend to correct the passenger windows this time around and small stuff like that. Hopefully get some work done on her over the next couple of days.

Perhaps do a second one in BOAC or BA markings?
-
Not much work has occurred. I have gotten most of the paint off, the joins of the two envelope halves need redoing. Engine cars have been removed to allow work on them.
Shown here with my 1/500 diecast 747-400

a small update, but airship construction continues. R-100, Akron, Hindenburg and as yet unnamed dieselpunk airborne carrier.

I'm liking the carrier airship ;)

Yeah. Happy to be building again, just work getting in the way now.

Darn jobs get in the way of everything!!!!
Better to have one than not.

Yup, coz kit-purchasing power is greatly dwindled when you don't!

Another small update. Hindenburg has had her horizontal fins and control car added. Same for the Akron as well as her gas vents. The carrier has had some putty (lots of sanding ahead) and her lift engines built.

I must've died and gone to heaven for it's an assembly line of airships!
Can't wait to see how these finish up! You're certainly off to a great start!

Hopefully some more done today and tomorrow (my weekend) after a quick visit to the LHS this morning.

No such thing as a quick visit to the LHS!

That took longer then expected. A mishap saw critical damage to the deck. Back to where I started now with the new deck fitted. Have been toying with how the lift engines will be fitted, starting to think maybe the ones I have are too big. Still need to add areas for the self defense guns to the deck yet.

Hindenburg built and partially undercoated. Didn't realise my can was almost empty.

That's coming along very nicely! A very sharp, clean build.

Well, very slow progress, but Hindenburg finally has her base coat on. A couple of things to tidy up before applying decals and I might actually get something finished.

Candidate for The 2015/16 Clear Your Work Bench Group Build maybe?
-
Wow is it great to see an update!
The build quality is simply magnificent! I don't see a seam anywhere!
Looking forward to the next update, however long it takes,

Thank you very much.
Anyways decals are done, just some minor things that are irking me and a base to do

Alright - you moved out and finished this beauty (unlike me) :)
In all the decades I seen Hindenburg pictures. Nose and tail landing gear did not register with me until seeing your pictures.
-
Your Hindenberg looks really good. Just keep it away from open flames and huge manatees.
-
That's got to be the best looking Hindenburg I've ever seen next to the movie model at the Smithsonian, and yours is certainly in much better shape! I especially like your work on all the windows.
It's no small feat to get such a sharp, clean build out of a model like this. I've got two in the stash and I'm trying to get up the nerve...
Interesting, I had no idea the Hindenburg had registration codes on top. Since I'm vertically challenged, I miss things like this easily.
You finished this baby up as a real testament to your incredible talent and skill! Bravo!!!

Thanks Brian. The Graf Zeppelin, Hindenburg and Graf Zeppelin II all had the registration on top, I not sure if any earlier ships had it, I've not looked into it too deeply yet. None of the kits supply the third registration decal though. Not too sure if around the right way. On GZII the top code ran the other way (D at the stern), but I seem the recall a pic of Hindenburg showing the D towards the bow, can't find it now of course.
