Title: Me 262 variants
Post by: stevegallacci on June 07, 2015, 12:25:56 PM
I've done an am still working on all kinds of Me262 variants, both hardware and paper stuff. If I'm double posting, some of this goes back some years - my oops.
To start, a Me262 with a Mk212 55mm cannon alternate to the better know Mk214 50mm, based on the Hobby Boss kit in 1/48. Other than the gun, scratch-built but basically a scaled up Mk108, I covered the somewhat heavy panel lines on the kit and then added underwing R4M rocket racks from a Tamiya kit in an operational heavy bomber destroyer.

And a paper project Me262 Schnellbomber. 1/32 Trumpeter kit with vac-formed new nose and canopy and home-made resin torpedo bomb. Also has ah extra fuel tank visible from the main gear well.

Lovely work Steve.  Little confused by the Mk212 reference though - I thought this weapon was 30mm.  Perhaps you meant to write MK 112 cannon - this was the scaled up (to 55mm) Mk108.

You are right, I had some kind of brain fart while I was posting the thing, and even had a reference out to make sure, and still got it wrong. Yes, a Mk112.

Surprising & pleasant silhouette, with the nose cockpit, congratulations! :-*

I especially like how your Schnellbomber finished up, Steve! Absolute eye-candy!

No snaps yet, but I've been working on a 1/32 Me262B2 (three-seat nightfighter), 1/48 '262B1b (converting the HB 'B-1a/U1 into a proper two-seat trainer, and adding BMW 003  engines) and a 1/32 'B1a trainer (from a 'B1a/U1 nightfighter). Also a 1/32 '262 Mistle + He162 top half. And 1/32 a '262 A1a/U3 reccon.
