The model was a fifty cent yard sale find. Two pairs of Champion Spark Plug decals were found in a 1955 Revell 1/48 White/Fruehauf gas tanker kit. As soon as I saw them, the "Whiffer" light came on in the brain's Design Department.

The model is mostly OOB. I de-militarized and de-navalized it and added a few fiddly bits.

The paint is brush-painted Humbrol #69 Gloss Yellow and Floquil Reefer White for the landing gear and wheel-wells.

The race numbers and registration numbers came from an old Testors Gee Bee decal sheet. I found the crossed Stars & Stripes and Union Jack on the cowl as a fragment in the bottom of the scrap-box. It symbolizes the British airplane and its American owner.
To use a Britishism, I am well and truly chuffed with my results.
Adios, Larry.

Wow! Great racer! winner next year I am sure ;)

"chuffing" indeed
(if I inderstand the britishism correctly? ???)
Humbrol #69 Gloss Yellow rules!
(along with 19 red and 14 blue, of course)

Nice

That's a superb job! It really does have that right-out-of-demob look to it. You could place that with any R/W Reno racers and fool people for sure.
Great work - I hope you're proud of what you've done. I would be!

Good score for a couple of quarters CSMO, nice what if as the end result: Priceless!

It looks great! Yellow isn't the easiest color to paint. I didn't realize that the Pioneer 2 kit was that nice.

Sensational!! :) :) Looks fast just sitting there!! :P :P
-
Excellent indeed, and with a hairy stick paint applicator too :)

It looks great! Yellow isn't the easiest color to paint. <snip>
I always find yellow incredibly challenging, so I'm really impressed by the flawless finish!
Looks every bit the winner, Larry!
