Title: Enter the Hippo
Post by: Feldmarschall Zod on April 08, 2015, 12:41:45 AM
Quarter Kit 1/48 mecha. I will be adding Hippo Team markings to it. I will probably paint it in JGSDF green and brown.

On the gap for the gun mantlet,I think I may add a canvas cover.

The kit came with an RB Models Soviet 122 mm barrel in 1/72. No instructions on where the PE parts go.

Same here.  DUST series have some cool looking designs.

Is that turret pattered after a German Panther? Dust has a similar vehicle which uses a Sherman turret IIRC.

Yes. This is patterned after the schmallturm turret.

Sorry it has been so long for any new pix. I went back out on the road last Wed. Been working some long days. Finally a shorter day today. Put The Last Dinosaur in my DVD player, and had some good bench time. Lousy special effects in that movie. But,I do like the story it tells.

This is the weak spot in this kit. I used the thin version of Gator Glue. The attachment points for where the legs go onto the hull in this pic. That is where, for whatever reason, that glue failed

Made a canvas mantlet cover.

I used Zap CA this time.

This looks pretty nice.

I like the plan of using exact change to make the exact jig.

Thanks Apophenia. :) I am running behind on this build. I thought I had taken the decals with me in the truck. I did not. :icon_sueno: They are finally on.

I was experimenting with a new type of AK Interactive product. A liquid dirt and dust. Not sure if I like them or not.

When I saw "Enter the Hippo", of course I thought someone was building a *shudder* hyper-realistic model of a particularly vile ex-girlfriend of mine.

So you can imagine my great relief to see that it's yet another amazing mech from the workshop of Zod!

What really makes this beauty to me is the rust, sure looks every bit the business!

Well done, sir!

Thank you kindly Brian. :)
Getting some more work done. I hollowed out the turret IR light some. Will add some clear epoxy resin. Also painted the vision ports.
