how about this .... Canada needs a small, fast patrol-plane to try & get that mysterious sub spotted off their west coast .....

I recall, back in the 80s, a couple of ASW aircraft concepts were on the tables at DeHavilland and Canadair. DeHavilland had the Dash 8 based Triton aircraft while Canadair had a CL-415 based machine.
