im in a luft46 kinda mood, so i might as well get one of them going on the bench ;)
the model im using is a 1/72 PM Model Ta.183.
having built one before, i know the kit isnt to special, with only 20 parts and not much internal detail.
but with a little effort, it can be improved.
first up, the armament, as the Ta.183 was envisioned to be armed with the Rurhstahl X-4 Air-to-Air missile, i thought it would only be fitting if they were to be present on the wings.
scratchbuilding these seem to be the only option, as aftermarket missiles are hard to find and kinda costly atm.
as a basis, im using 4 1/72 Mk.82 snake-eye bombs, fitting them with plasticard fins and wirehousings on 2 wingtips.
i calculated these are just about to-scale.

the wings have been fitted with pylons, made from 1mm thick styrene plasticard.

and is is to be the cockpit for the aircraft, a leftover from a Revell Fw190A (from a previous build) i should fit in perfectly.

Off to a good start!
Yes, and taking more care than I do.
If by mid 50s Germany were to begin building its own fighters. Perhaps a J47 or J52 could be fitted into Huckedbein.

UPDATE:
the cockpit has been built and installed, it seemed to fit just about right.
then the fuselage halves were pit together, allong with the landinggear.

and i just fitted the wings on, but the fit isnt that good, i had to find some sort of strut support as one side was kinda droopy.
now thery're just about level, with a little bing of a hanged look. still need to PSR the gaps where the wings are mounted.

ive also started preliminary paintwork on the X-4 missiles (no picture yet).

Most excellent, Nils! I don't think I've ever seen splinter camo done better and the yellow on the nose is very impressive!

Is as nice as I would ever hope to build a Huckebein. :)
Like to have a U.S. version based at archipelago.
Lends itself to anyone's markings, even Klingon.
