atlantia chose the f14 as their main naval fighter bomber and decided to modify it slightly

Very nice :-* Love Tomcats!
-
Single-fin Tomcat? That means less drag and more speed? Congratulations, engineers... :-*

Coming along nicely

in the 70s atlantia was looking for a fleet interceptor for its normal carrier force (the habbakuk class could use nearly anything)
they decided on the f14 then entering service with the us navy largely due to it extreme range radar and missiles.
as usual they modified the original design

That's some wizard camo!

Outstanding work ! :-* :-* :-*

Wow. That looks great. Awesome work
-
In short: WOW! :-*
in better length:
I love those colors what did you use?
The single fin looks better than I could have imagined!
And finally, your masking and paint work and scheme selection are excellent (love black nosed F-14s), its not just a great (TOMCAT!) idea, its a great model from a technique stand point as well :)

thanks for the kind comments :-[
the colours are standard to atlantian navy (iv got a tomcat replacement in the stash ;) )
the tsr 2 has white underside but i ran out of that and im skint so i used revell 371 light gray which actually looks like a dirty white and it covers better.
the top is all tamiya
xf19 light gray
xf 23 light blue
xf82 dark gray/blue
the actual camo is deliberately different on the cat and the tsr2 and will be different again (bigger) on the tomcats replacement
i try to approach most of my whifs from a realism point of view ie what looks like it could be a real solution to a problem/idea.
although i admit i nicked this idea from a pic of an early tomcat mockup lol

Belated congratulations for the final result! :-*

Besides what the others said; Camo works super well. So well, it distracts to point that I don't particularly notice change to only one fin :)
-
Beautiful job and a gorgeous model. I'm looking to do a 1/72 single-fin version by grafting on a fin from a 1/48 kit.
-
Good remark, engineer: to keep the same fin area, the single fin should be of increased size... :)
While 72/48=150% and the right figure is sqrt(2)=141%... ;) (I can demonstrate it if you want).
While... in a what-if Universe, the single fin is simply "more efficient" and all that figures fall down, into admiration for the beautiful model. :-*

i used a 48 scale f14 rudder which is a bit bigger than an f14 tail anyway so its approx 60% bigger
