Cromwell Models 1/72nd Combat72 E-75
After a long battle with the look/colour scheme and waiting 2 weeks for my drill bits to arrive I'm calling it done.
I was going to put overhead armour plates over the rear screens at the last moment but decided to go simple and used PE mesh screens. I'm ready for another now .... maybe the larger Trumpeter one.

My Gripe ....
Too red tho - Communist Germans ?? Don't know why so many do totally red-primer Panzer-46s - not realistic at all, there WAS cam paint around, even house paint would do the job !

As for the colour, not my fault as it's the first red-oxide German tank I've done and I wanted to try it. I get your point though, it seems like it gets done to death on the experimental stuff. I get annoyed when the mix-matching of Red and Gelb parts is overdone without a though for what the parts are, a little is quite nice on the eye but a checkerboard is off putting imo.
However ..... I did give the rational for the colour some thought from my extended war/std production view rather than that of just trials or experimental vehicles.
Firstly there is precedent for the order (HM - Oct 1944) to have vehicles leave the factory in red-oxide to be camouflaged as required later by having standard disruptive colours oversprayed. Given how some vehicles were left Dunklegelb and weren't camo'd when paint was available it's not unlikely to see a reasonable number of vehicles left in the primary colour if they had to be urgently pressed into action.
Secondly the red isn't that bad a colour on the gaming table (and in RL) in terms of visibility. It lightens significantly in direct sunlight and is dark enough to be used directly in sheltered light or urban areas. In fact it has less signature in the open (eg steppe/soviet plains) than the later Olivegrun overall scheme which is noticeably darker.
That's my story anyway .......... 8)

Nice, I already have that in my ref pic stash ........ very sweet modelling I thought. I'd hate to be the crew given the job of painting it though !!!!!!
