Title: Taking detailing to the extreme, Trumpeter 1/24 Hurricane
Post by: kitnut617 on September 01, 2013, 10:55:35 PM
My bro also does model building, he does mostly very large scale models, 1/24 and that sort of thing so he frequents the 'Large Scale Planes' forum mostly and he's not a member here.  But here's what he's doing to a 1/24 Trumpeter Hurricane ---

Mods: if this is the wrong place for this, please move it to where I should have posted it.

Wow that's some absolutely jaw-dropping detail work!

Thank you for sharing your brother's work, kitnut. From those incredible photos, it looks like there must be a gene they've yet to identify that's a marker for amazing craftsmanship.

The project started off because he wanted to display the model with the engine covers removed so you could see the engine.  He then discovered that the engine that comes in the box is not the correct one for this Hurricane version, so he began rectifying it, and then one thing led to another -----

That's awesome work. His build ethic reminds me of a local guy here, Howard Hill. he tends to do skinless planes in large scale, and usually winds up scratchbuilding most, if not all, of the plane.
Here's a Wellington he did...http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/rh/images/galleries/articles/230-329/13026/gallery_25301/photos_1260500213.jpg (http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/rh/images/galleries/articles/230-329/13026/gallery_25301/photos_1260500213.jpg)

Myself, I'm always in awe of that level of talent. Thanks for posting the link kitnut617!
