Title: F-19 KLU
Post by: ed s on July 13, 2013, 11:31:21 AM
Competing against the F-16, Mirage F-1, and others, Grumman was successful in selling their F-29 to a number of countries looking for a lightweight fighter with good performance. A fighter version of their X-29 Forward Swept Wing research aircraft, it proved quite popular with users looking to replace their F-5's and F-104's. One such user was the Dutch Air Force (KLU).

The kit is the 1/72 Hasegawa X-29. It was built basically "out of the box" with pylons and weapons added. The decals came from an old F-16 kit.

The first picture is the F-29 next to the X-29.

It looks great.
It might look even better if photographed so that it looks as if it is on an airfield. Don't know if you have the opportunity to play with that: bases, backgrounds, lighting, camera settings/photo editing.

That's some amazing paintwork, ed! The F-29 looks great in that scheme with those Dutch markings, a real natural!

I never cease to be impressed by your work!

My painting aint half that good.

The paintjob. The lightest gray is the Mr Surfacer primr coat. Next came the light blue-gray, Flanker Blue. Then Medium Gray, and finally Gunship Gray. The gunship gray was on upper surfaces only. All paints were Model Master Acryl. Masking was done with green Frog brand maskingtape. All sprayed with a Paasche H airbrush.
