A spiffing red triplane piloted by Aziz the mad bomber ..... multiple air ace, herder of chickens, partime dynamite aficionado .....
A cheapo Smer 1/48th kit with Reaper pilot finsihed for air-wargaming. It's kinda what if, as the colour scheme is made up and I don't really think Aziz is cleared on rotaries ..... I've got a few pulp style WW1 aircraft built up with air-wargaming in mind, we {my brother and I) tend not to take these things too seriously and as a bonus, finishing them like this is stress free modelling at it's highest.
Just getting up the courage to take the next step with them and kit bash them around a bit as I've always had a soft spot for Dick Dastardly's Vulture Squadron craft or something like the Red Max in his Crimson Haybailer .....

Your attention to the details is amazing, almost to the point that I may take up knitting :)
Brian da Basher is sure to like your WW1 era aircraft and he is always happy to see things with spats.

What a concept, unique color scheme (thinking it will work on a jet too), and great build.

Thnx gents .... I really enjoyed this one, fun and cheap, the fig was the most expensive part of this, the kit cost me about $5nz. I did the "L" and "R" under the wings as a joke at my brothers expense )always gotta work in a dig at him somewhere on my kits) and it provides a bit of a visual break from the other markings too. I've got a completed Camel, DH2 and Spad that I'll dig out the pics for and post up, plus a slew of others which are more at wip stage .......

Magnificent! Wonderful, unique color scheme, incredibly well detailed, very cool "mad bomber" figure...a winner all the way 'round!
We don't see enough triplanes!
That's one heck of an introduction! Welcome to BTS!

Very nice! The fig looks great in there, and the scheme on the plane is one of my favourite kinds: definitely whiff, but definitely plausible!

That is amazing!! the figure gives it so much character! Excellent scheme :-* and some flawless technique too
-
Fun build and beautiful paintwork! :-*

Very nifty build, and splendidly executed. I haven't picked up any Reaper figures in ages, but its good
to know that they work so well in 1/48th.

Thnx for all the comments gents 8)
So what's the form, is it better to add the other planes to this thread or start a separate one for each new subject? Thought I better check before spamming threads all over and risking getting run out of Kansas ......

Feel free to start a new thread for each creation...or to add to this one. What ever you feel happiest with.

Veeery nice model. I love the painting scheme. How you achieved "real steel" look of cowling?

Painted gunmetal silver, washed it with thinned black, then applied silver "dots" with and old cut down detail brush and highlighted the edges. Looking at it now it's a little crude and a final glaze over the whole thing would tie it all togther a bit better ....

Brilliant !!
