We did a window display for Canada Day at the hobby shop, with the Snowbirds and Golden Hawks making appearances. There's a slightly altered Otter in the mix as well!
Happy Canada Day!

Who built the Bluenose?

Not me, that's for sure! We actually obtained it already built up from a customer, whose name is long forgotten. Wooden ships are far outside my patience envelope.

Have a happy Can-Day!
-
Very, very nice! :)
-
So what's this all aboot then, eh? ;)
Happy (early) Canada Day folks!
-
Bah, nobody really says that!
Canadian raising, as it's called, means that instead of the sound you hear in "how", before a voiceless consonant (like 't' in 'about'), it becomes the same sound as in 'cup'. Not sure how I'd write it in layman's terms... if "about" is the General American pronunciation, the general Canadian pronunciation is more akin to "abuwt" (with the 'u', as mentioned, as in 'cup'). In certain parts, it sounds a bit more like "aboat"...
-
You all sound a bit daft to me... ;)

Great display...
-
I don't say "Aboot", I say "A large shoe, eh".

I checked IMDB and yes, actress Cobie Smulders really is Canadian. So, I guess it counts!

How could that ever be considered offensive? It's got the MacKenzie Bros. and the Maple Leafs in it. Prouder national symbols you'll never find, I assure you.

Doesn't it really originate down in Cajiun country

No, it originates in Quebec. The Cajuns, who are descendants of the Acadians, may have taken it down with them if it was already invented back then, but it's entirely of Quebecois origin. :)

Of course, up here, all bacon is "Canadian Bacon". What y'all are talking abowt is back bacon.
"American Singles" -- same as eHarmony® ?? :o

We had a nice gathering on the Legislature grounds again this year, the weather was perfect, and a decent fireworks show to end it off. As an additional topper, the RCMP interrupted a bomb plot by a couple @#&%! people, who were planning to do a pressure cooker stunt. Kudos to the RCMP, and a big ole poke in the ey to those who already are complaining about them. Sheesh.

Poutine seems to have originated in the 1970s (in Quebec, of course), long after Acadiana was settled. I lived in Louisiana for quite a number of years, my wife's family is Cajun on her Mom's side and I've never seen poutine served anywhere in the area.

No, he means an alleged "food" product, supposedly "cheese"--never mind that Cheez-Wiz has more cheese to it than American "cheese". Personally, IMO anything less than an 18-month Cheddar is a waste of time and calories...

My apologies, I would've called it pea meal bacon but then only Canadians would know what I was talking
about aboot...
