Title: Tamiya 1/72 N1K1-Ja in post war RTAF markings
Post by: MyQueenDaiwaScarlet on March 29, 2026, 12:21:52 AM
This is probably the first model I have put actual effort into. It built really well even thought the tooling is a little dated (2001), although the landing gear placement can interfere with the underwing cannons. I custom printed all the Thai roundels and flag and it is supposed to represent a fictional scenario in which some of the numerous N1K1-Jas around the pacific were recovered and pressed into service by the modern RTAF. I personally am not that good with scale models, nor do I have a high budget for them, but I do think it turned out acceptable.

Nice ... and welcome aboard BtS!

Love your scenario for Thailand collecting abandoned Shidens and putting them into RTAF service

... although the landing gear placement can interfere with the underwing cannons...

True for the original too ... the real undercarriage legs and underwing cannon barrels were pretty close-coupled.
