Title: Obsolete flags for inspiration
Post by: The Rat on January 24, 2026, 03:10:41 AM
For those who want to resurrect a country for whiffing purposes, Wikipedia has a listing of many obsolete flags. Turning them into roundels or other national markings is up to you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Obsolete_national_flags (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Obsolete_national_flags)

If the Monachy is abolished, Australia might get this flag.

Japan may use this instead of the red meatball ?

Future Group Build idea here:  Something like "Old Empires New" GB

Say a Roman Imperial Army C1 Ariete tank?

Just had a go at making a couple of roundels from two rather simple, but striking, flags on that list. First is from the flag of the Federal League, which existed between 1815 and 1820, and is now part of Uruguay. It is often call the Artigas flag, named for founder José Gervasio Artigas Arnal

Second is the flag of the West Indies Federation, which was used between 1958 and 1962, in an attempt to unite various British Caribbean islands.

I'm not sure how well it would 'read' from a distance but your West Indies Federation roundel is gorgeous!  :-*

An added bonus is that the country name's acronym is WIF ... what's not to like?  ;D
