This Build is inspired by a kit that i bought of the Italian Saiman 200 aeroplane. Among the decal options was a captured aircraft operated by US forces, and named 'The Klunker'.
As I planned to build the Saiman in Italian markings, I came up with the idea of a 'hack' aeroplane, assembled from parts of other aircraft, and used by the US, perhaps as a personal transport for a senior US officer.
As you know, I have lots of spare wings, and tail surfaces, but it wasn't until I bought a kit that had a spare, second fuselage in it, that I could commence this project.
So, without further ado, let's start . . .
The fuselage is from the recent KP Avro 626 kit. This is basically a re-pop of the AZ Models Avro Tutor, but it comes with a spare fuselage for the armed, export version. As I plan to build it as a Tutor, this fuselage is spare.
THe first job is to carefully carve away the fairing for the gun ring, Here are the fuselage halves, with one done,

and here with both halves trimmed.

After some dark grey paint inside, the two halves were joined.

As you cansee from the dark patch just behind the aft cockpit, there was JUST enough excess plastic . . .
The tail surfaces are from a Revell / Matchbox Hawker Fury that donated it's fuselage to another model. These were trimmed to a more nondescript shape, to disguise their origin. Here the taiplane before,

and after trimming.

And the same with the fin. ( I forgot to take a picture of the fin before I trimmed it.)

The next step is to attach these, then I will sort out some wings.
That's All For Now, Stay Tuned . . .
cheers,
Robin.

This looks really intresting. Can't wait to see more.

Me too. An excellent concept, Robin. And a nice bit of 'recycling' too

I'm liking this! 8)
Really very exceptionally interesting Frankensteinian monster! ;)
(And you haven't even mentioned the engine, yet! ;D )

Just the usual. Two, one on each side . . .
(I knew I'd forgotten something, thread title edited . . . )
EDIT: seems I can't alter the thread title. It should now say 'The Klunker', A One Wing Biplane.
cheers,
Robin.

Edit to the edit . . . I've managed to change the title now.
cheers,
Robin.

One wing biplanes are a great overall concept

Okay . . . Some more progress.
I attached the tail surfaces.

Here are the wings I will be using, they are, in fact, the wings from the Hawker Fury kit that provided the tail feathers. It was originally one piece, but somewhere along the line got cut into two halves.

The wings in the proces of being attached. First one,

and then the other.

This is why I attached the tail surfaces first . . .
And here is the model with the wings attached.

This is the engine I will be using. It's a resin part. left over from the KoolhovenF.K.51 I built here :-

The engine can't be seen under the model's cowling, so I used the inferior plastic part, and saved the resin one for another build.

It will be left uncowled on this model.

Okay . . .
So I've not been idle during my enforced absence, the Klunker now has an undercarriage. The Vee struts are the undercarriage struts from a Mistercraft PZL P-7 kit I bought for parts, and the radius struts are cut down wing struts from the same kit.

(https://i.postimg.cc/MpWMNpmm/03-undercarriage-2.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
I'm also using the wheels from the same kit. There was a lot of plastic on the inboard side of the wheels that isn't scale, I've removed it as best i can, I may need some filler, and to re-drill the axle holes.

So many little things to modify or rebuild on a whiff!
Nice work and great whiffology.

Okay . . . .
So, despite my current 'Other duties', I've still managed to make some progress on this Build.
'The Klunker' is ready for decals.

More when it happens . . .

Very pretty! And I love the idea that this aircraft was cobbled together from available bits just to create a hack
-
For a station hack, this is a good build.
-
I can just see General Blowhard in the back seat with his hair (what he may have of it!) and tie blowing in the slipstream!
This needs a baggage pod for all of Gen. Blowhard's clothes and booze!
-
Nice work !!!

Thanks, Gents . . .
@Kerick; that's pecisely the idea I had in mind, although the baggage goes in behind the rear seat.
I had an idea for a humorous backstory using the characters from 'Catch-22', but after reading 'Catch-22', I decided it perhaps wasn't the best story to use.
cheers,
Robin.
