This is the Rules Thread for the Kitbash / Frankenstein GB.
THe GB wil run for Three months, from Midnight (local) of st February 2025 until midnight (local) of 1st May 2025.
The idea of the GB is use major parts from two or more kits to produce a unique model. Examples include putting the turret from one type of AFV onto the hull of another, mating the wings from one type of aircraft with the fuselage of another type, or using various odd bits and pieces to make a spaceship, you get the idea . . .
If you're unsure if your idea qualifies, make a Post in the chat thread.
cheers,
Robin.

Ok, that sets some context. Seemed a bit airy and vague as a GB theme
-
I’m looking forward to this one! Now I should decide if I want to do the Osprey/Cheyenne cross or the F16XL with a forward fuselage of a two seat F-16. Maybe both in Israeli decals.
-
Hmmm, so, basically, just about anything goes as the theme is pretty much the definition of kit-bashing… 🤔
-
And here I was looking for a Frankenstein figure I could kitbash...
-
Does anyone know of a cheap supplier of Frankincense?
I need to up my modelling mojo and I read that this stuff does wonders.

Does mixing a kit with bits and pieces of multiple conversions count? I'm playing with the idea of a developed Vulture powering a Tempest variant, but with Tempest MkI radaitors.
-
Yeah, go for it, but bear in mind, this Group Build finishes at the end of this month . . .
cheers,
Robin.

Interesting

Something I've been playing with. Not certain I'll be able to do anything at this time, got a lot of things vying for my time and energy.
-
Won't be able to do it, but there's one that's been stewing in my head for a while. The inspiration was comparing the DeHavilland Gyron to the original P&W J58-P-2, from before it was adapted to the A-12 et al. The two engines are very similar in size, architecture, and power and I keep thinking of a Gyron Major that would be equivalent to the J58-P-20 for the Blackbird. So, my thought is to take a 1/48 Bristol T.188, fit it with 1/72 engine nacelles from a SR-71, and modify the cockpit to incorporate side by side 1/72 seats and panels. I'm thinking it would be labelled an R.188B to hide the program as an expanded research effort.

I will be the first to ask...is there any chance of an extension?
-
Oh, I think so . . . any body who wants one, shout up !
cheers,
Robin.
-
I second the extension request
-
It might just come in handy……
-
Extensions are available if you need them . . .
cheers,
Robin.
-
I think I might just make it but an extension would take some of the pressure off

I would like an extension please. RW is slowing me down.
-
So, after due consideration (and checking with the boss), I can now announce that this Group Build has been extended by two weeks, and will now finish on Monday May 14th . . .
cheers,
Robin.
-
An extra two weeks will give me plenty of time to question my life choices and slip deeper into the insanity that is masking my build.
-
Thanks for the extension!
-
-
Thanks for that, gives me time to work on a back story

cheers,
Robin.

A final reminder that tis GB finishes at local midnight on the 14th . . .

Roger that.
I am done, so race to the line with the rest of the folks

I'm unfortunately not going to be done in time but I'll continue on with my build and post any updates in my thread.
