Upon his retirement from the Royal Navy in 1970, Captain Eric Melrose ‘Winkle’ Brown was still much in demand as a test pilot and advisor in many areas of aviation, and transport from place to place was problematic due to the vagaries of airline schedules. Accordingly, and in appreciation for his outstanding service, he was gifted the ownership and use of a Hawker Hunter T.7. Repainted with the name ‘Winkle’s Wings,’ the saltire adorning the wings to honour his Scottish upbringing, and the distinctive registration of G-WINK, his travel was made much faster and easier. When he finally gave up flying, he donated the aircraft to the museum at RAF Cosford, where it still resides today.

This was done as part of a group build on the facebook page associated with the YouTube channel Gary's Stuff, run by Gary Evans. The Matchbox Hunter T.MK.7, also available with the single seat option for the FGA MK.9 Typical Matchbox trenches, questionable nose contours, extremely sparse interior, but also a damned quick and enjoyable build. Great for the first-time hobbyist or anyone who wants a mojo kickstart. Paints are all Tamiya acrylics, decals home-printed. (https://flic.kr/p/2qBTyVa)

That’s one pretty airplane!

Looks better than I thought a Hawker Hunter T.7 could. Nice build

Great paint job and build. I like the overall shape, especially of the cockpit.
The Matchbox trench digger must have been on vacation when the molds for this kit were made.

Thanks!

No, my paintwork filled them in and covered them up, then the bright lights in my spray booth/photo booth flooded them out. ;D In real life they are plainly in evidence. But as I said, if you want a quick build, you could do a lot worse than this kit.
