I got this kit recently:
The molding/sculpting is very good for injected plastic. I started with the bearded guy with the denim jacket and I'm doing some undercutting on the body. Just need to clean up the scrapings:

The guy's face:

Shotgun:

Drinking hunter (guns and liquor - always a good combination!):

Woman's face is at least feminine:

The soda/beer cans are in three parts:

-
The parts runners numbers are very similar to what MiniArt does on their product line. Maybe a connection with MiniArt for the source of the figures?
-
Jeff - I agree; the sculpting looks a lot like Miniart, especially their recent civilian figure sets. I'll compare them tomorrow.
-
In some cultures, a drink after a successful hunt is traditional - and the guy with the hip flask has his gun back in the case/bag already.
I don't see the four figures fitting in one diorama, as shown in the box image - unless the hunters have already returned to their "base camp". One guy isn't hunting, so he keeps fishing, and the bored lady doesn't know what she is doing there anyway.
... I've heard about "bear hunting trips" where a bunch of guys actually hope they don't find a bear, so they can concentrate on chilling out, sauna, barbeque and beer. No women allowed ;) ;D
-
I wish I could get figures like this in 1/48th as I would have a use for them. They look good.

Hi Ken.
Preiser used to make some nice "O-Guage" (very close to or actual 1/48th scale) civilian figures in a variety of poses and clothing.
-
The Over/Under shotgun (part 5) is indicative that beardy guy is engaged in bird hunting of a sort.
-
The Preiser O gauge I found on a quick and dirty are distinctly European

Frank,
Instead of a new or stand-alone vignette, you can add them to a pre-existing passive Zombie themed build.

The Over/Under shotgun (part 5) is indicative that beardy guy is engaged in bird hunting of a sort.
A shotgun works for some mammals too, perhaps depending on your method of hunting. Up to small deer, at least. Distances must be relatively short.
-
They'd work nicely with some additions in a post-apoc. The guy fishing could be converted to a flak vest easily, just add webbing
-
I compared the AK kit with a recent Miniart kit Ukrainian Tank Crew at Rest (https://www.scalemates.com/kits/miniart-37067-tank-crew-at-rest--1266277), ICM Chernobyl #5, Evacuation (https://www.scalemates.com/kits/icm-35905-chernobyl-5-evacuation--1330121) and Master Box The Mohicans (https://www.scalemates.com/kits/master-box-mb35234-mohicans--1557245), which is one of their very latest releases.
I think the subcontractor for AK is ICM, not Miniart; parts layout and detailing are most like ICM's, especially since they seem to be making some of their vehicle kits. I also noticed that the Master Box kit looks an ICM kit as well. For one, the woman's face looks feminine, which is a dead giveaway.

OK, maybe in some 1st world countries. He's too thin and well dressed to be American, so you're probably right. In the US, he would just be arriving somewhere near a hunting area and he's topping off the several beers under his belt with some cheap rum or whiskey.

When you're done using that broad brush here, bring it and yourself over to my place. I've got some ceilings that need touch-ups.

I wish I could get figures like this in 1/48th as I would have a use for them. They look good.
I to would like to get some decent civilian figures in 1/48, like back packers/hikers or vietnamese civilians but they are non existent or hideously expensive.

O scale railway figures are approx 1/50th so you may find some skinny ones.

The hipster with the shotgun is almost ready for painting:
Fit is good; I deepened the beard and the knit cap:
The fingers and hand holding the shotgun need some work; I want to extend/modify them so they look like they're holding the shotgun like on the boxtop:

Working on Bubba and and the woman next.
-
You could do them up as the hipster couple that usually gets eaten by the monster in the first 37 minutes of any rural horror movie.

The Hipster, Bubba and Party Girl with a black coat to see if there are any sections that need repair/extra work:

Hipster. Shotgun fingers are still a work in progress. The index finger fits perfectly in the trigger guard, which would not be a good idea:

Bubba:

Party girl - still needs the ponytail:

If you go hunting you will see that that's how they hold the gun >:D A wonder there ain't more accidents.

I'm almost done with the hipster. Tried a few new techniques on him, but not a real improvement. I used a glaze to build up the color on the pants and jacket, following the steps Night Shift does in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoN2m_c-wfY), but I need more practice.

I'll finish him and his shotgun tomorrow.

Looking good

The "hipster" looks like he would/could be holding his favorite bagel with that hand posed as it is.

Hmmm ... a quick Google search failed to find a single 1/35 STL file for vegan 'everything' bagels! :o
For scratch-building, I'm guessing that paint would suffice for the pine-nut hummus but what about those avocado slices? ???
-
Some minor updates. I finished the shotgun, but it's not glued in place and it shifted:
Other than fixing the rifle, I think this guy is done. I made a bagel out of poster putty. Maybe I'll try to make a 1/35 scale avocado toast.
-
Great job on the hipster hunter. One of the rare times where the figure's face matches the box art.
-
Surprisingly, the figures do match the boxart!
Here's bubba. Preshading (which really helps):
Where it is now:
The slack jawed, vacant look is because he's taking a swig, not because he's been decapitated and stuck on a pole. I have to fix the eyes and get rid of the sweaty sheen. The painting method is slightly different from Mr. Hipster; I'm getting a hang of thin glaze layering. I'm also using a different acrylic paint.
-
Wow, that's cool.
What camera are you using? Amazing close-up
-
That's on my new iPhone 15
-
Nice detail on the faces.
-
Bubba is almost finished. I added a beer bottle to see how it looks, but he's so drunk he missed is pie hole. One difference between the plastic and the boxtop on this figure is that his ammo belt is unsnapped in the model.
Not a flashlight:

Don't know what the thing is under his jacket. It may be a pad to sit on cold and wet ground?

or possibly a small game bag, wherein the dead animal(s) that'll become dinner is/are placed to leave one's hands free.
Variations allow for personal preference.

Almost done with the woman. I need to work on her eyes, hair, watch and some touchups:

Really nice Frank, this is the best sort of review.. a real build review.
Refreshing to be getting some more Civvy type figures more readily available.

Thanks, guys. Other than some dust and a cat hair, I'm calling this one done:

It turns out that the soda/beer can won't fit in her hand without surgery (hand, can or both). The bottle seems to fit OK. I used a random beer decal that came with the Miniart beer kit.
Next up is the fisherman.
-
-
Mister Fisher, man.
Head is about 75% done. Head, cap and fishing rod are tacked on.
Getting the arm placement correct for the reel took some work:
I have to fix some seams, then a black coat from below, white from above and painting.
After this, maybe I'll tackle a quick, relaxing 800 part kit. These figures are only 7-10 parts each, but the painting takes forever.
-
In these pics, the fisherman looks as if he is trying to reel in a big one - but the rod is straight?
-
It’s molded straight; I’ll bend it closer to the boxtop
-
The fisherman was the toughest to finish. I broke the fishing rod a few times and ended up saving the reel end and replacing the rest with some styrene rod and fine nylon rigging thread.
Here he is on the back of a boat, reeling in an old boot (from a Tamiya figure):
I managed to knock him off the boat and the rod broke, once again. Here he is (slightly out of focus) before I repaired the rod:
This set took a long time to finish - I started in early June and finished it yesterday.
-
Looking great, Frank!
... I made a bagel out of poster putty. Maybe I'll try to make a 1/35 scale avocado toast.
;D ;D
-
Really nice work. The jeans shorts on the pert derriere, came our really well.
Mr Fisher.. also looks the part. I would think that a fishing rod in plastic would be a horror to work with due to being so fragile due to length and thickness.
-
If the fishing rod ever breaks again, perhaps a different material can be found in a craft or hobby shop.
-
A brass antenna might work as an option to styrene for the fishing rod.
By the way, excellent work on all the figures, Frank!
-
Thanks, guys - I was very close to replacing the rod with some copper wire, but I was done with this project...
-
Your figurework is outstanding.
Something I will aspire to but never attain ;D

Outstanding! I can see how this would take forever. Lots of work painting that to make it look good.
